now, arizona's governor jan brewer had been gearing up for this court challenge for a long time. she says she will appeal to that ninth circuit in san francisco. there is a lot more to be told on this one. now, a lot of reaction in arizona and, of course, across the country in states like california where there are more than 2.5 million illegal immigrants right now. let's go to kimberly terry out at one of those protests where people are going to have a lot to say about this. >> reporter: that's right. a rally is expected to begin here in front of the state building at 11:00 a.m. this morning. it it's expected to draw a crowd of protesters furious over that new law in arizona. the controversial law took effect at midnight and protesters say they want their voices heard in washington. they are adamantly opposed to this law and want lawmakers to step it in and do something about it. this rally will come on the heels of the rally that happened yesterday, a loud by peaceful protest that turned into an act of civil disobedience. police arrested 19 people for disobeying a police order
