thanks for joining us, i'm jan jeffcoat. meteorologist melissa nord is tracking those temps for us, and it's hot. >> it is going to be hot. there's one day this week we're going to feel just as hot as it feels in las vegas. it's a different kind of heat. it's the humidity that nobody really enjoys, and it is going to be hot and humid. with added humidity, we're going to see some thunderstorms mixing in each afternoon. in d. c. right now, look at this, we're 85. feels like 92 outside. we've got these south winds and mostly cloudy skies building in. at the moment, heat indices in a lot of spots. waldorf you hit the century mark for your temperature. most other places where we've got some cloud cover, leesburg you only feel like 84. the dangerous heat wave continues to build. today we're going to have a heat index on either side of 100 degrees. by thursday that's going to be the peak of everything when it will feel as hot as 106. this is really where the concentration of the heat is building over the mid-atlantic. on the periph

i'm jan jeffcoat. >> wake up washington fired up and ready to go.going to wake up and feel hot. it's muggy at 4:29 in the morning, and it's sticking around for a while. >> it's a little uncomfortable out here, absolutely. i put the feels like temperatures here on the map, it feels 81 in the district. there's condensation on the screen here, 70 for leesburg, and 71 for manassas. like i mentioned before i'm keeping my eye on some fog. if i see anything, gaithersburg reporting 3/4 of visibility. will be very locally, but it could be quite dense. areas that did se rain yesterday, watch out for some fog. we know that gaithersburg did had a good storm come through yesterday. we're dry right now on first alert live doppler, but some pop-up thunderstorms will occur later on this afternoon, and with this setup just like yesterday, yeah, some of these could easily be strong to severe. heavy downpours, gusty winds and also some frequent lightning. by 1:00 we're still dry. then when we get the heating of the day, this is 3:30. showers and thunderstorms will sta

i'm jan jeffcoat. >> i'm mike hydeck. it happens at the g20 summit. that in a little bit. >>> let's talk weather. it is tropical outside, but the humidity is going to move away soon. good morning, allyson. >> good morning. yeah. we're going to wait until saturday night to feel the impacts of lower humidity. by sunday everyone is going to enjoy a picture perfect day. this morning it's still humid, there's some fog out there, patchy fog, not too dense as of now. aisle akeep my eye on it for you, though. on doppler a round of showers, it's light and it's not going to last as long as what it did yesterday. so anywhere west of 95 we're dealing with those showers, as you head out betwn 9:00, this is underdoing it. expect those showers to be right on top of the beltway. so if you're biking to work or doing that morning jog, your morning will be impacted with some of those showers. now, we dry out for a lot of the day. now, this is not until 8:30, hopefully at the nats game, they wait until the rain actually arrives to delay the game. the showers will arrive
