i'm jana mclaughlin with the intercept. i'm curious if the fbi is concerned if these companies if you get them to agree to some sort of back door to build in some sort of capability, are you concerned that other companies may leave darker companies, criminal entities, might provide these end-to-end encryption and it will primarily be the average american user that loses out and no longer can protect their communications while criminals still might find access to these things? >> i think that -- and really the experience that we've had in this is if companies can build in such a way -- and that's why, again, i go back to the -- it shouldn't be the government that's proposing the solutions. really the companies know their systems better than anybody. and so, in our opinion, really it should be the requirements should come from the government. look, this is what we're trying to accomplish, but really the companies to be able to build in the most secure systems, to be able to build the most secure systems to be able to do that.
