social psychologist and writer jane adams joins us from seattle. it's good to have you with us. >> thank you for having me. >> women have been going to college for decades. >> that's true. >> why do you think just now we're seeing this change? >> although most of the media says it's economic and result of the recession, it has more to did with the relationship between parents and their grown kids these days. it has changed a lot. parents today want to have an open authenticit authentic relah their kids. if they feel having them at home is going to support them and having a more successful life later, when they are through with school and out in the workforce they're willing to have them there. there's a difference in terms of independence between what women and men feel about independence. >> that parents who allow kids to live at home later? >> absolutely, i believe they feel that's the only way they're going to keep them there and that's true. men have always had a certain amount of independence regardless where they live because they're men. in

the book literally dozens of people who you know very well lincoln stephens and jacob reese and jane adamsand just a who's who list of progressive era reformers say in their memoirs in letters to their friends, do you know what really turned my -- what opened my eyes? somebody gave me a copy of "progress and poverty." and it's an incredible number of people who found this book to be a great eye opener and it really set them on their path in the next generation, the generation we call the progressive era. so that's in some ways some of the biggest aspects of george's legacy and why he's worth knowing. i should also point out that most people don't know this but the game monopoly comes from henry george, not him directly, but one of his followers worked up a game which she called the landlords game to demonstrate how easy it is and how pernicious it is for people to monopolize resources and to squeeze everybody out and put everybody out of business. and to make a long story short, the game kicked around for a while and a guy took the game and changed the name and the words and he sells it to
