so i'm here to express my deep gratitude for our supervisor jane kim for her support of the filipino community and the tenderloin community. i met jane in 2010. i was starting to organize the filipino community in the tenderloin. she was our first speaker, our guest. since then we've grown to more than 100 members in the tenderloin, and supervisor kim was there with us from the start, until now. so thank you for that, supervisor kim. also would like to thank, you know, jane was instrumental in converting corner stores in the tenderloin so residents would have access to affordable and healthy food in the neighborhood, so thanks for that, supervisor kim. and also she helped a lot ensuring that our open spaces would be rehabilitated, and now it's a vibrant community space for seniors, for youth, for family. so we have this space now that we use and, you know, enjoy every day. so thanks, too, for being a champion for the filipino community and passing this soma heritage district now. we have our own community south of market, and lastly, i'd like to thank from the bottom of my heart my fa

in fact, jane kim knows a lot of personal information about me. [laughter] jane actually, we had this weird relationship. i'm kind of like her west coast mom. and she is -- >> you're my teenage mom. >> supervisor fewer: my political mentor. so, yeah, i have to say, no, i was with jane kim when she ran for supervisor and you guys were not. and jane and i, we stood on corners together and we showed them and we said, yeah, we're going to win this. it was a huge victory for a grassroots campaign. really, the first i was involved in that was that robust. i am going to miss you on the board, but actually i think when you're off the board, i'll be able to see you maybe more. because our lives are so busy. jane has -- we have fought many battles together, jane. and i think that through these battles we have emerged much stronger. and jane is like, yeah, we kind of go back. we have a lot of stories actually, i think, but the thing that i admire most about jane is her courage. and whereas she could be my daughter, let's face it, i'm 61. and i look to her for

jane kim by unexpectedly, so she would like to say a few words. [cheers and applause] >> so it really is incredible that these lights have come on. just a couple of days before my turn was ending, only because this was one of the first projects i worked on when i came into office in 2011. it only took a little over eight years, but this did really begin in the community first, when the negotiations with cpmc began about the move of their hospital to the van ness core door, and has a lot of questions about the impact that this hospital would have in terms of traffic to the neighborhood, in terms of economy, and many other things. it was groups like central city s.r.o. collaborative who had been working collaboratively on passages to increase adult presence on the streets as kids walk and back doors walk back and forth between school and afterschool programs, and i see many of our partners are here today. and randy, who talked about a study of how this neighborhood had the least number of streetlights at night of any neighborhood here in san francis

supervisor jane kim made sure if that's. we had community meetings pick one on ones, and actively listen to people about the concerns and ideas. now there's a thousand more square feet of new public open space back a redesigned pedestrian bridge, and a beautiful area that allows families and residents to better access the playgrounds and the open space. we really wanted this convention centre to be woven into the surrounding neighborhood, to make it an overall better environment for visitors and residents. i want to thank you all for coming here today, and celebrating this milestone with the city. thank you mayor breed for overseeing the final finishes for this successful project, and i also want to give a big thank you to public works director, mohammed nuru. i know we have been joined by supervisor jane kim and i want to give her an opportunity if she would like to address the commission. i know she has a busy schedule and an important work to do. >> thank you so much, mr president. i am not more busy than everyone else here in the room but i do appreciate the time to speak on the project. i did come before the commission three years ago to speak on the 1050 folsom project in opposition because of the increased shadow to our only multiuse park in the south of market. as you all know, district six has the smallest and fewest parts of any district in san francisco, and we have been working in conjunction with your staff, and with commission to activate the existing playgrounds and parks that we have, but also to increase the parks and playgrounds that we have. i want to think this commission over the last eight years and being strong advocates for the district and working so closely with community leaders. over the last few years, it has been very clear from our community residents and leaders that they continue to oppose this project as t

city supervisor jane kim helped cut the ribbon on a newly completed bike lane along howard street. the protected lane is part of a larger project to improve safety on streets with a high percentage of pedestrian and bicycle accidents. kim believes the changes could have a big impact on rider someplace. >> -- ridership. >> as a flinlg ling biker i know they won't get on their bike without feeling safe. one way we can do that is to have a protected bike lane at this structure. >> the bike lanes stretches 2 1/2 miles and the improvements added to seven intersections. >>> let's take a look and see what our best chance is of trees coming down and losing power from 1:00 today to 2:00 tomorrow morning, gusts of 65 miles per hour. especially in the areas you see in yellow, the areas above 1,000 feet. most valleys will be around 30 to 35 miles per hour. here is a look at our chance of thunderstorms. just general thunderstorms. nothing severe. it goes from 4:00. we're already in that chance until 4:00 tomorrow morning. the east bay valley, we've got a pretty good chance just about everywhere
