[ explosion ] >> huge flames co the stanceprior to that the hpey night. this video here was shot by a college student who was not injured. the explosion at a farm town of west, texas, demolished dozens of homes and buildings. it's still not clear how many people were killed in the small community of 2800. early estimates put the number of dead at high as 15. then authorities backed away from those numbers. but just last night, west mayor tommy muska estimated 35 to 40 people were killed. more than 160 people have been treated for injuries. destruction can be seen for several blocks around the explosion site. >> friends have had their whole houses destroyed. and i just -- we are going to try to pull together and recover from this. i mean, that's all we can do. >> rescuers continue to search the rubble of houses and apartments near that explosion site hanging
