let's bring in janel wang, we hear of the drugs that could help, but most are not valid. what do you have? >> reporter: yeah, right now, we know a vaccine is still 12-18 months away. but the medicines are 3-4 months away. they will be used to treat the sickest patients. i talked to dr. john torres, nbc news medical correspondent about the drugs being tested right now. >> there's medicines out there that we are looking at right now, one of them is chloroquine, they have used it in combination with an ant biotic. don't take it on your own, they have to be careful on top of that, there's another medicine that is experimental, they use it for ebola or tried to and they are using it here and they are using convalescent serum. it is taking the blood from somebody that recovered and processing it and giving it to a patient that is critically ill to help them fight off the disease. it's temporary, works for a few weeks. it can get them passed the severe part and get them surviving and bridge the gap until we get the medications in three or four months. >> we do get over this in,
