i'm janelle wang.cators will vote on whether to allow their union to take their contract negotiations with the district to the picket line. kris sanchez joins us with where things go from here. >> reporter: this is not a vote to walk out of the classroom immediately. this is a strike authorization vote, that is to give the union the power to call a strike if that's what they need in order to get what they want for this contract. more than 2,000 teachers showed up on a school night a few weeks ago at that last negotiating session. the united educators of san francisco want to up the pressure because as of that session, they are still at odds with san francisco unified. the two sides still cannot agree on teacher, counselor, aide and staff working conditions. the teachers union has an issue with the district's financial mismanagement, which includes the use of a payroll system which left many with no paychecks on payday. another sticking point is the pay. the union wants a $12,000 raise for every teacher
