janelle wang joins us with details. janelle?j, the president said he supports the fbi and the department of homeland security. they have come under scrutiny for their handling of early intelligence on the two suspects. russia first alerted the fbi about tamerlan tsarnaev. the president has ordered a top level investigation but defended u.s. law enforcement. >> based on what i've seen so far, the fbi performed its duties, department of homeland security did what it was supposed to be doing. but this is hard stuff. >> the president also added attacks carried out by self-radicalized individuals may be the most difficult to prevent. the tsarnaev brothers are suspected of making the bomb using instructions from an al qaeda website. and guantanamo bay where suspects have been on a hunger streak, mr. obama says his stance hasn't changed, he wants it closed down. the facility is expensive, inefficient, and not necessary. president obama says to hold a group of suspects for so long without a trial is contrary to what america stands for.

i'm janelle wang. >> and i'm jessica aguirre. >>> a basketball player is getting attention for an accusation of murder. the once budding athlete is now in jail charged with killing an emerging rap star. mary an favo joins us live with details and reaction from white's father, mary ann. >> well, the murder he's accused of happened nearly a year ago, in june of last year. he is accused of murdering a rapper. and he is well known in the bay area sports world. he played at two different universities here, including santa clara university. it was this amazing shot from beyond half court that brought san francisco state basketball player desense white nationwide attention. now the basketball star is getting attention for something that happened off the court. white is accused of murdering a man in george. u.s. marshals arrested him april 24 in pacifica. >> mr. white was arrested in our county, and we filed in the district attorney's office a fugitive proceeding against him in court. that's extradition proceedings. >> white was transferred back to san francisco in may facing extradition. he is accu

janelle wang joins us now with details. >> the suspects are all college classmates of dzhokhar tsarnaevccused of throwing away key suspects. two of the suspects, azamat tazhayakov and dias kadyrbayer are seen in the photo. they are accused of going into dzhokhar tsarnaev's doorm room several days after the boston marathon bombings and throwing away a backpack. attorneys for the two young men gave a brief statement. >> they did not know that the items were involved in a bombing. >> my client feels horrible and shocked that someone he knew was involved with the boston marathon bombing. >> reporter: the two men are citizens of kazahkstan. a third suspect is charged with making false statements. all three voluntarily waived bail. after the april 15th bombings which killed three and injured 206 say dzhokhar tsarnaev returned to the dorm room. >> people saw him here. >> reporter: in the federal complaint he told his friends he was not involved in the bombings but they later recognized him on surveillance photos. one reportedly exchanged text messages saying come to my room and take whatever y

janelle wang is here with the details. >> late today suspect ariel castro was charged with rape and kidnapping. his two brothers have been cleared. authorities found no evidence linking them to the crime. the long process of healing begins for the victims as they return home. with the crowd chanting her name, 24-year-old gina de jesus gave a thumbs up as she returned home for the first time in nearly ten years. >> i feel as it is a dream. >> reporter: crowds greeted amanda berry as she arrived at her sister's house with her 6-year-old daughter. >> we are so happy to have amanda and her daughter home. at this time our family would request privacy. >> reporter: authorities confirmed they are doing paternity test to see if ariel castro is the father. and michele knight remains in the hospital in good condition. all three women were kidnapped one year after the other between 2002 and 2004. over the next decade police say kept in castro's home a few miles from where they disappeared until berry escaped and called 911. >> we have confirmation that they were bound. >> reporter: new details about thei
