i'm janelle wang. >> i'm raj mathai. we continue to follow our breaking news. a strong earthquake near south lake tahoe has been upgraded to a 6.0 magnitude. let's get you caught up on the latest details. the quake hit south of lake tahoe near smith valley, nevada, also walker, california. so this is essentially a rural area along the california/nevada border. in the last 15 minutes, the usgs has upgraded the quake. for a couple hours, we were saying it was a 5.9. the usgs upgraded it to a 6.0. you can see the rock slides here. pretty incredible video. someone driving right near walker or coalville, california. showing the rock slides there on this is along the 395 freeway near coalville. this is the main artery coming up from south lake tahoe into lake tahoe. briefly shut down 395 was briefly shut down as crews cleared those boulders. it has since reopened, 395. the quake hit about two hours ago. the exact time, 3:49 p.m. it was centered on the california side of the border. you can see the map here. it's triggered a cluster of aftershocks between lake tahoe a
