let's get a check on the weather with janessa webb. >> that small cold front is on its way through. yet. we have a flash flood warning for new york city. this torrential rain made its way and is rapidly moving into boston as well. i cannot promise you sunshine for the northeast and mid-atlantic. so turntlcurrently 37 million a the northeast, hopefully going to see that die down by midafternoon. along this front, we have a system that has escalated. that front will make its way to the south and clash with the system and not allow it to form. that's really good news here but that front is causing wide-spread rain from new york to boston this morning. >>> starting today, the trump administration is expected to begin using a fast track deportation process for immigrants. the new process bypasses immigration judges and allows immigration authorities to deport those anywhere they encountered them. it targets those who sneaked into the country and do not have an asylum case pending. will be limited to migrants caught within 100 miles from the border and expects to alleviate the new backlog

with that, let's get a check on your web with meteorologist janessa webb.nd steamy start here. that's where we're going to continue here as warmer weather makes its way in. also off to a rough start for the severe weather hurricane season. and yesterday, we saw this rare tornado in cape cod. i really want to show you on radar how this started as thunderstorm activity here, as it rolled through barnesable county, this is a classic hook here. you can see it touching down around the 12:00 hour. but it caused an ef-1 tornado. it started on land and as it made its way offshore it really turns into a water spout. we saw sustained wind gusts of 110 miles per hour. it took off the roofs along with you can see downed trees. we still have 30,000 people in that area without power this morning. so, that storm system is making its way offshore. everybody from new york, boston as well, areas in the northeast, you're going to see high pressure that's going to make its way into the afternoon. that will make everybody happy. we'll start to dry out. but the cold front condit

janessa webb is here to break it down for us. >> we have seen the warmest day of the year so far in nework city. records continue to be broken across two-thirds of the nation. air temperature continues to steadily warm up. this is the peak of daytime highs that we're currently seeing. earlier this morning, around 8:00 a.m. we already saw dewpoints in d.c. of about 100 degrees. look at this across the northeast, already the feel like, 100 for new york city, from detroit as well. this will continue to be stagnant for at least the next two hours. this event will be record breaking. look at this. most of the nation here, about 86% under some kind of heat warning or advisory. 160 million under those advisories. that's going to last through sunday afternoon. sunday's daytime highs, can you spot the cold front? this is slightly cooler, i know not big time relief for chicago, a high of 81 degrees, but the air is still going to be in place from the northeast to the midwest as well with record breaking temperatures as well. the cold front will make its way in for late sunday into monday, so if yo
