janet reyes is following the search for the driver. >> reporter: we are told that the aftermath of this hit and run is pretty horrific, the 17-year-old girl was hit in the crosswalk and police are desperately searching for clues that may lead to a suspect. galloway township police are investigating the hit and run but say it happened before midnight yesterday at route 30th and 6th avenue. aubry service of little egg harbor was walking near the westbound lanes when she was hit. the driver took off and leaving service to die from her injuries. not much is known about the driver or the vehicle but believe could be an older model suv silver, traveling west on the left lane and ran a red light. it should have front driver's side damage, there are nummous businesses with surveillance cameras but none facing in this direction. melissa was staying at a hotel nearby and witnessed the horrific aftermath. >> i thought why is nobody getting her help? when you are hurt you want help. and two girls ran up to her and ran back screaming and then i went up. >> and "action news" has reached out to servic

janet reyes is live in galloway township with the car that police are still looking for. >> reporter: well, monica, as we speak galloway township is out and about interviewing anyone that may have seen the driver hit this young woman and leaving her to die on the side of the road, as soon as i went up to the street there was a body in the road. just laying in the road. witnesses of a deadly hit and run gathered in horror as 27-year-old aubry service lay dead on the ground. >> i was sitting outside of my hotel room and all of a sudden i heard a big bang like a car accident. i came running over -- >> galloway township police say that monday evening at 11:30 the egg harbor resident was walking in the crosswalk at route 30 in the westbound lanes when she was struck and thrown nearly 30 yards the driver sped off leaving her to die. >> she crossed over this way and then that way, and as she was crossing over the light was yellow and his was about to turn green and the car went right through the light. >> customers from this gas station rushed out and some tried to help but it was no use. se

janet reyes joins us live from the scene at melrose street with more on the situation there. >> reporter: just a few minutes ago we saw residents head back into their homes, after they were evacuated several hours ago because of this incident. i want to show you what is going on here now, agencies respond to this incidence and you see the awnings on these homes, most of them collapsed. it happened at 9:30 this morning. and fortunately there was no injuries reported. and peco arrived after the incidence and fixing the power lines that came down with the awnings. license and inspection arrived a few minutes ago and it shows how significant the damage is, but we are told that it's not as significant as they had expected. a neighbor tells me there are concerns about the foundation and the awnings of these homes for quite sometime. they have voiced the concerns to city officials and nothing was done. >> this foundation of the two houses has been going on for over a year and a half maybe three years. >> i want lni to come out and basically make sure our roof is okay. >> we are working to get o
