joining me now is nbc news' janis mackey frayer live. and here from the cave commission.w you've been covering this from the beginning. what is the latest on the rescue plan? >> reporter: well, there's now this new race against time. first is to find the boys, now it's to get them out. with the threat of the monsoon rains due to hit here at the end of the week. it means the water levels inside the caves could rise dangerously high. and some believe may actually fully flood it. so it's forcing officials here to at least consider an evacuation attempt within the next few days. they're rehearsing possible scenarios. they're having the kids practice wearing full face masks and breathing. but there are no easy next moves here. the kids don't even know how to swim, let alone have the diving skills to navigate nearly three miles of murky water. another option they're exploring is finding a different way into the cave system. there are hundreds of people walking around in this area, looking for cracks. looking for chimneys. looking for places where they can drill and drop ropes t
