our friend meteorologist janice huff is in the weather center in new york. what are we looking at here? >> we'll start in the southern plains lester including texas, where a steady stream of heavy rain and thunderstorms will result in flash flooding. it includes the dallas area also up towards oklahoma city and wichita, kansas parts of missouri and arkansas may see two to five inches of rain in the next 24 hours and even more going into sunday monday. we start out into saturday you can see the thunderstorms building across the area all the way into sunday afternoon, spreading eastward to the mississippi river valley where more heavy rain is expected across this region. in terms of travel it looks like sunday on the east coast looks pretty nice. miami will be up to 88 degrees. the west coast is cool in the 60s from los angeles all up to seattle. temperatures around 72 in chicago and storms for dallas. memorial day will see more thunderstorms in dallas. atlanta will get in on the action as well as chicago. 90 in washington, d.c. near 90 in miami and still cool

turning identity ever to janice live in the fox extreme weather center. jd? >> goes to show you it doesn't take a tropical storm or hurricane to do damage. i mean we are talking about record setting historic flooding. for oklahoma city the wettest month ever on record with over 18 inches. typically in the month of may, they receive about 4 1/2 inches. we are setting records all across the southern plains. and it's not over yet. within the last 48 hours, easily 6 to 8 inches and some of the areas. saturated ground. the water has no place to go. and so that it just acts as runoff so flooding is imminent. it is happening right now across portions of texas and oklahoma. in towards arkansas louisiana, kansas and missouri. now, the weather is going to clear i would say in the next couple of days but we still have inches of rain to go as we head into tuesday and even into wednesday. it moves a little bit more to the east but still in the bull's eye here of areas that received incredible amounts of rain. other than that we have the threat of severe weather. including
