janice dean is here with fox weather forecast. what do you got for us janice?toric storm. folks got over a foot of snow in north and even south carolina. reports of several inches in some areas. look at iowa, 14 inches. north carolina, over 15 inches of snow and this system is not done yesterday. it started in the plains and doef across the tennessee and missouri river valley to the mid-atlantic. along the coast, it is too warm, it is coastal rain and flooding and strong winds in some cases of hurricane-forced gusts along the coast toward new england. there is future track. we are dealing with interior sekszs of northeast and cold air will bring a lot of lake effect snow over the next 24 to 36 hours. wind gust forecast. look at that. boston over 70 mile per hour winds later this afternoon. we will see wind gust in excess of 10 on to 20 miles per hour, you will definitely see airline delays and cancellations and it is going to be tough traveling, as well. we have coastal flood alerts issue the nor'easter is pushing the water from the atlantic along the coast. th

good morning, janice. ment. >> janice: good morning.there is any silver lining it's happening on a holiday. hopefully people are heeding the warning, staying inside. i will tell you we have hundreds of thousands without power along the east coast and with temperatures very cold, that's going to be concerning. people are urged to stay off the roads as well across portions of the south where we had over a quarter of an inch of ice on the roads and the power lines so, this is not done yet the northeast is getting the brunt of the storm with hurricane force winds along the coast and coastal flood advisories as well as over a foot of snow forecast for the interior sections. here is the storm right now crarnging up. this is a classic nor'easter along the coast though it's warm. so we have got a rain-wind event. some ice mixed in across interior sections and then all snow for parts of upstate new york and pennsylvania in towards new england. there is the future track. so it's going to be with us throughout the day today. strong gusty winds are

hey, janice. >> janice: ainsley, i'm sure this storm is over achieving.f schools closed today treacherous to drive here in queens. we have it definitely suburb passed 5 or 6 inches. some places along coastal connecticut and massachusetts over a foot of snow. it's the light, fluffy type of snow. so it's easy to accumulate and that's why we are getting an overachieving storm. the good news is it will be out of here by this afternoon if you are kid and love snow you have plenty to play. in once the sun comes up here, you will see a lot of snow in the background at the park. this is one of my favorite parks in queens. take a look at the radar and show you where the storm is right now. it brought several inches of snow to areas that received over a foot. tennessee, you good got over four or five inches of snow in the nashville area from this overachieving storm. and as you can see, it is moving up towards the northeast. it's going to continue to do so for the duration of the rush hour. here in new york city, the worst of it should be over around 9:00 a.m. and

good morning, janice. >> janice: good morning, a lot going on across the map, even snow in texas.it is happening. we have this arctic cold front that has sunk as far south as dallas, texas and we'll see more ice and snow for southern states toward the mid-atlantic. take a look at it. this front is bringing snow across mid-atlantic and northeast. we will see potential for snow in south texas today and tomorrow as we've got this gulf of mexico moisture lifting northward and interacting with that cold air and a winter storm warning for south texas, that doesn't happen often. winter weather advisory for austin and san antonio and look at forecast lows. 22 in dallas, 15 in midland, 29 in san antonio, 36 in houston. crazy, i know. winter weather ark letters expand to louisiana and mississippi to alabama, as well. that is the big headline. then our next system that moves in friday and saturday bringing potential ice storm to the mid-atlantic and the southeast including our friends in the carolinas. that is something we'll have to watch. bottom line, the cold air is there and the snow is

now let's check in with our own senior meteorologist janice dean for fox weather forecast. >> janice:ir of the season has arrived across the midwest. blizzard conditions with snow and heavy blowing snow across portions of the northern plains and great lakes. you can see where we have cold air in place sinking sought ward and eastward. that will set the stage for snow southeast. we have the snow moving in from the rockies upwards of 4 feet of snow in the mountains, and then we are going to see this storm system bring the blizzard conditions today for parts of the dakotas through minnesota. that means heaviy snow and blowing snow. travel is going to be next to impossible in some of these areas. an additional 2 to 3, even 4 inches of heavy snow and then you have got that cold air about behind it the k08dest air of the season that cold air is going to sink as far as south as the deep south over the next couple of days and set the stage for our next storm system. so you can see where we have our wind chill alerts. temperatures, you know, well below freezing. minus 20. minus 30 with the win

hey, janice. >> janice: hi, good morning, will. we have got snow on the ground in the d.c.now. let's take a look at it over 15 inches in parts of maryland, so quite a big snow storm. the biggest they have seen in several years in some of these areas in virginia over a foot. over a foot in new jersey. and the cold air behind it has started to settle in and that means any storm system that moves up the coast, that means more snow. let's take a look at the current snow cover across the u.s. i think every state here has some snow on the ground except for florida. and they did see snowflakes in north florida from that last some system. so we cleared out of the storm off the mid-atlantic coast, we do have more potential for heavy rain along the coast of the west as well as mountain snow we are all clear in the mid-atlantic. the cold air is going to settle in behind the next clipper system across the midwest and great lakes. bring snow cover to some of these areas over a foot certainly for parts of the up of michigan and parts of the upper midwest. we will continue to monitor that
