wow savannah, kate and janice able to read the whole thing. how cool is that? this group of hikers found the bottle along the shore in townsville, australia. the note was dated july 2016, signed by savannah kate and janice from sunnyvale, california. the three women dropped the bottle in the ocean while vacationing in fiji. the australian hikers immediately started searching for the authors of the note, but they actually got stuck when they found the sunnyvale home reference in the note had been sold, but our investigative unit picked up the search and located the three women who sent the message in a bottle. it kind of felt like almost spiritual, like the way that it survived eight years and was still, like legible. and my hair tie was still on the note. so cool. wow. savannah green says that she had forgotten all about that bottle until they went back to fiji. this august. wondered what happened to it, and they're now hoping to meet the australian hikers in person. you can watch hilda's full story on our website, nbcbayarea.com. a public service announcement.
