ktvu fox 2 janine de la vega is live there now. you have been there all morning. tell us about the area that is effected here. >> reporter: we are right on santa theresa boulevard. now that it's light outside, you can kind of get a feel feel for what it looks like. you can see the blackened ridge there in the distance. firefighters are expected to come out here once all the fog lifts so they can take a look at what burned. here's video we took earlier where you can see the two lines of fire burning on the southern ridge. it started just after 3:00 this morning. san jose fire and cal fire worked quickly to contain the flame. when they arrived two acres of grass had already burned. they called in a lot of resources. 65 firefighters and a bulldozer. fire officials were able to get it under control. it never reached any homes though. >> so we reminded our crews to be cognizant. to look for any live wires on the ground. at this point it doesn't appear to be any involvement of the high tension lines but the origin of cause will take daylight to figure out. >> reporter:

the fire started about 5:00 this morning and ktvu fox 2 janine de la vega got there right after the fire crews did and she tells us the cause of the fire is still being investigated. >> reporter: smoke is rising from the roof of this strip mall. you can see firefighters are here. there is also an investigator on scene. one of the things they will be looking into is a small fire that happened here behind the building last week. it caused minor damage. it may have been intentionally set. they are look into that. but take a look at the damage caused today. it's mainly is a barbershop where it's completely blackened. neighbors say they heard explosions and windows shattering just before 5:00 this morning. they looked outside and saw flames shooting from the strip mall near evelyn and fair oaks avenue. firefighters arrived and started hosing the building down but the flames spread throughout the attic area. the barbershop is a total loss. police tell us they will look at the past fire here to see if there is any connection but at this point they don't think the two are related. >> based on st
