ktvu's janine de la vega is there with some of the most bizarre food combinations. this year's festival is dishing up, janine. >> reporter: we're here in gourmet alley. you can see a great deal of activity. they fired up the grill. they they are cooking up calimari and you can feel the heat. the crowd as you can see right here, they love it. over the next three days, they will go through 10,000 pounds of garlic and 10,000 pounds of meat. for the more adventurous there's garlic watermelon and garlic ice cream. the event is expected to attract 100,000 people over the weekend. >> it's very, very family oriented and we want to bring the kids so they can enjoy it. and the food is great. who doesn't like garlic? >> reporter: garlic lovers got into the spirit of thing wearing garlic hats and even entire costumes. the event has three stages and 40 different acts and a childrens area and back out here live you can see i have these three little chocolate garlic frogs. and i'm going to taste one. i don't know how it tastes. hang on a second. it's actually pretty good. it has se
