janine de la vega is joining us now to tell us what the 49ers are saying about this attack. >> reporter: we have been told over and over that security is a top priority here at levi stadium. now the two suspects in the attack they have been arrested for felony assault. this incident took place just before kick off yesterday between the 49ers and the kansas city chiefs. police tell us two men were in the bathroom at the 300 level on north side of the stadium when they were attacked by two other men. the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. they were arrested minutes after the assault took place and booked into the county jail. police are investigating what prompted the attack and if the men knew each other or if they were fans of opposing teams. a 49ers spokesman tells us they were aware of the attack and supporting the police investigation. we reached out to authorities to get an update on the victim's condition and the investigation and as soon as we get that, we will bring that to you. reporting live from santa clara, janine de la vega ktvu channel 2 news. >>> bars and rest

ktvu's janine de la vega is there at the school now with pictures you won't see anywhere else. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning. we were in shock. we could come here to simonds because we heard there was a fire at 4:00 a.m. the fire was already out but when we pulled up an hour later at 5:00 a.m., we saw a second fire and this is what is left of it. i want to show you exactly. this is garbage and debris. this is what we saw. two people were standing nearby. we saw one of them throw a pylon like this into it. and fire officials are telling us they are lucky it didn't spread. if you look up to the spree, you can see some of the leaves are singed. it's lucky it didn't spread. we did capture the suspects on video. we immediately stopped and started shooting video. this was in the courtyard of simonds elementary school around 5:00 a.m. these two people were near the picnic tables watching the fire and throwing items in t that's when i called 911. we got back in the van to drive on the other side of the school. we encountered teenagers. they claim they saw the suspects.

janine de la vega is joining us life from san jose to tell us how many people are effected by this and done. good morning janine. >> reporter: good morning, dave. people who live in this neighborhood near piedmont road can use the water to shower but until san jose water gets the all clear from the state, they shouldn't be drinking the water. crews will be out here at 8:00 a.m. to try to flush the water main out. here's the area effected. it is in north san jose. close to the milpitas border. the water company handed out notices to 300 homes telling them the water may have been contaminated with the e. coli bacteria. they have been advised they need to boil water. the problem was discovered when crews were replacing a pipeline last week and took samples in the area and found the contamination. after further testing, they determined the water is contaminated at only 50 homes on sydney drive and sydney court. >> they put the notice on the door early in the morning and i had already made coffee and things like that with the water. so i had no idea. >> e. coli is essentially a bacteria tha

janine de la vega is joining us from san jose.victim's family members a short time ago. >> reporter: yes. they are grieving and they are in disbelief. they just came from the hospital. they wanted to come here and see the scene. the victim's aunt told me that he is 24 years old and friends were with him when he was shot in the chest and abdomen. there is a heavy police presence here at second street and santa clara. so that police can investigate. officers say this happened just before midnight. a group of young men were walking in fountain alley between first and second street and an argument broke out among them. one man took out a gun and started shooting be the victim was hit around four times. the victim returned fire at least once. the man hit, walked away injured with two other men and collapsed on second street. he was rushed to regional medical center family members arrived on scene in the last hour and they had just come from the hospital. >> we don't know the reason why. we do know that there was some friends with him.
