janine de la vega is joining us live. you're in san jose to tell us the reason for this increase. janine. >> reporter: dave, the study showed that santa clara county had the largest increase in the amount of bing drinking compared to any other county in the state. the pressure of a high stress job and juggling personal lives could be a factor. this study which was done by the university of washington defines bing drinking for women as having four or more drinks on a single occasion. for men it's five or more. researchers found in santa clara county bing drinking increased almost 36%. for women. and for men it was 23%. working mothers we spoke to say expectations are increasingly high to be able to do it all. have a career and kids. >> there is a lot of pressure for us to perform and look great and feel good all the time. and exercise and raise your kids. so yeah they want to let their hair down. >> reporter: drug and alcohol therapists who work in san jose tell us they have seen a 15-20% increase in clients in the past year. half are women and many work for tech companies. the stud

janine de la vega is in san jose this morning with more on how this all started.ll us the suspect had just been brought in from mexico and was at a holding cell. he was handcuffed behind his back but somehow he managed to get the cuffs to the front of his body and escape. here's a picture of that suspect. you can see it looks like he was scraped up after trying to run away from custody. he was in the process of being booked from a murder of 2009. he was able to escape and run out of the building. chief larry was driving in through an electric gate when he saw arias sprinting. he jumped out of his car and chased him. he tried to tackle him once but he kept going on nearby streets. you can see from these pictures that esquivel's shirt was ripped and he got a cut. the police department will be looking into security measures and how he was able to get out of the holding facility which is supposed the to be secure. we will be reaching out to the chief to see if he will comment. >>> a shakeup in cal's football department after a recruiting coordinator and wide receivers

janine de la vega is there. we understand the ramp just opened minutes ago? are some people concerned about it? >> reporter: you know i haven't been able to talk to any commuters because we're up here on the overpass. but it did open up i would say about 20 minutes ago and there you can see the new fly over ramp there. it looks like a pickup truck took it to the right. the vta knows a little disorienting for drivers. they want everyone to take it slow. here's a map. the new fly over ramp takes motorists to northbound 880 so they no long very to mix with people trying to get off on the busy stevens creek. drivers need to remember to stay to the right to go to 880 if they want to connect to 17 that is going to be to the left. this project has been in the o since late 2012 and was done to improve traffic flow. there will be touch up. there is also wider bicycle lanes there along the stevens creek area. the whole 280 and 88 interchange has been a congested area. so by separating them and reconfiguring the exits the vta says this will be a safer and smoother commu
