ktvu's janine de la vega joining us live from san jose to tell us what is in store for the residents out there, janine. >> reporter: dave, water district officials are looking for ways to conserve. now an example of that could be adjusting your sprinkler system. you can see these plants were watered overnight rather than in the day when it's warmer so it's going to absorb more efficiently. the santa clara water district provides drinking water to 1.8 million residents in the county and at tomorrow night's board meetings they're going to vote whether to target reducing water by 10% compared to 2013. district water officials are responding to governor jerry brown's drought declaration earlier this month. the state's outlook for water resources is the lowest in history. reservoirs are below average for this time of year. some bay area residents say they're already conserving. >> as far as the landscaping haven't been given any water. i turned off the automatic sprinkler that comes on. so they're not getting any water as far as the grass and the bushes. i've done that at work. >> a vote

reporting live from janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right. k you, janine. >>> new details about the impacts of the drought in california. we're now learning 17 water districts in ten counties throughout the state could be facing severe water shortages within 60 to 120 days. you can see the ten counties here on our map including cloverdale and the lompico county water district. the santa clara water district last night voted to ask customers to ask forry 10% cut -- voluntary 10% cutback. the district okayed spending $500,000 for a public awareness campaign. right now, grund water supplies are in the normal range but could become critically low by the end of the year. other agencies with water restriction, the san francisco public area is also asking for a 10% cut. in the alameda county water district, customers are being asked to cut their usage by 20% and 25% voluntary reductions are being requested in marin county. now as for east bay m.u.d., those officials will decide in two weeks whether to ask customers for voluntarily cutbacks. the distr

ktvu's janine de la vega is live in san jose this morning. where are the police now in this investigation? >> reporter: yeah, they are still talking to witnesses and collecting evidence. now, the coroner just left about 20 minutes ago after examining the body out here at the scene. now, police have been here nearly sev hon urs. the body was found in the driveway of a home on east san antonio near 33rd e it doesn't appear the -- 33rd street. it doesn't appear the victim lives here. the man was found face down in the driveway before 1:30 this morning. several people heard gunshots. didn't call it in into 911. someone passing by 45 minutes later spotted the man and called it in. firefighters and paramedics performed cpr but were unable save him -- to save him. the man died at the scene. this is an area known as the gang hot spot but it's unknown if the shooting is gang- related. some who grew up here say they wouldn't be surprised if it was. >> probably gang-related, especially in this neighborhood right here. this neighborhood back then wasn't

reporting live from san jose, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right. thank you, janine. >>> a teenager is recovering from serious burns after being accidentally set on fire. ktvu's alex savidge is live at the concord b.a.r.t. station where it all happened to tell us about the unusual circumstances surrounding this situation. good afternoon, alex. >> reporter: well, good afternoon. investigators say this boy's clothes were soaked with gasoline and that's because he had been working on cars earlier on in the day. that's what led up to the bizarre accident. it was around 11:00. b.a.r.t. police say the teen was dropped off at the station. the person giving him a ride lit a cigarette inside the car. that spark ignited flamable vapors in the car and that triggered the fire. the teen jumped out of the car with his clothes on fire and ran to the station agent for help and ripped off his burning clothes. the fire was out by the time officers arrived on the scene. but this boy suffered serious burns to his arms and chest and had to be airlifted to valley medical

ktvu's janine de la vega has more details now on how he was captured and janine, you have video, yous. police had a potentially dangerous situation on their hands. they were told that the man had gasoline containers and he had access to weapons. that prompted them to evacuate several homes and then they started negotiating with the suspect. here's that exclusive video of the 34-year-old suspect being carried from the back of the house. now, police say they had to use a taser and a k-9 to capture him. officers were called to a home on reagan street in east san jose because the man was there holding gasoline bottles threatening to burn down a house. when police arrived, they found the man had barricaded himself in the shed in the back of the home. he was holding a woman there against her will. police started negotiating with him and the woman was able to escape but we're told that that suspect ended up lighting the shed on fire. >> it did get intense, especially once the shed started to burn. k-9s were used. some force had to be used with the individual. there was also a threat of some
