janis dean is live in the fox weather center. hey there, janis. >> hi. let's take a look at this storm, incredible rain maker from florida all the way up to the mid atlantic and the northeast where as you mentioned, we had record-setting rainfall, south florida, over a foot of rain from andrea. over nine, almost ten in fort lauderdale, even new york city, central park set a record not only for the day, but for the month of june added on to the previous record. let's look at the watches and warnings stretching from the panhandle of florida up towards parts of nebraska and iowa until 11:00 p.m. central time. this is the same area that we've been watching weeks upon weeks for the threat of large hail, damaging winds, even tornadoes. not going to see a tornado outbreak. but we certainly could see isolated twisters and within those severe thunderstorm watches, we could see the potential for some thunderstorm warnings, as you can see here, south of concordia, as well as south of dodge city. we'll continue to monitor that. we could see wind gusts up to 60 miles

let's bring in janis huff.anis, let's talk about the areas that you're watching right now. >> alex, right now, generally the same areas from last night and then a bit to the east. parts of arkansas, seeing considerable flash flooding. remember a lot of the areas saw anywhere from three to seven inches of rain in the last 24 hours. so flooding problems the biggest deal for today. however, there could be isolated tornadoes that will develop. not the activity we saw yesterday. but there will be some severe weather breaking out across the plains states and across the mid-mississippi river valley and into the ohio valley today. there's a threat of damaging winds, hail, and also isolated tornadoes. not as many, maybe not as large. anywhere from killeen, texas, dallas, memphis, nashville, up to cleveland. maybe even near the detroit area that could see some of the severe weather. yes, flash flooding is a main concern across the region. like i said, they've seen quite a bit of heavy rainfall. tomorrow, the threat of se

meteorologist janis dean is live for us in the fox severe weather center with the latest. >> we have an extreme weather alert for colorado springs where we could see the potential for large hail, damaging winds and even isolated tornadoes. just to add insult to injury for those in wildfire danger. severe thunderstorm watch in effect for parts of northeastern colorado, including colorado springs where we have that destructive wildfire burning. the good news is they could get some moisture in the atmosphere, which will help firefighters. the bad news is because it's so dry, a lot of that moisture just could evaporate and we could be left with dry thunderstorms, which could in turn spark more wildfire danger. so severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 9:00 p.m. local time, including colorado springs and denver. we have a severe thunderstorm warning north and east of colorado springs. so again, good news about the moisture. bad news is we could see some thunder and lightning and gusty winds, which could spark more wildfire danger. also across the central u.s., north and east of kansas
