i'm chris jansing in for hallie jackson. trump getting ready to return home from europe and home to a major disappointment. a much worse than expected jobs report. and of course, jobs and the economy have been his main selling point for re-election. new numbers just out this morning from the labor department show a serious slowdown in job creation. more than 100,000 under estimates, just $75,000 jobs added last month. economists had expected around 180,000 jobs. the unemployment rate held steady at a low. a third straight day of high-stakes talks to avert the president's threat to slap tariffs on mexico over immigration. a white house official familiar with the talks tells nbc news that after yesterday's negotiations, significant progress is being made. but the president is not signaling compromise. >> there's some republicans, too. i think they should be ashamed of themselves. but we have pelosi. we have crying
