we're going to turn to chris jansing, also the host of jansing and company on msnbc. i understand you have new information on the alleged suspect's apartment, the one which is booby-trapped. >> i want to apologize. we're having technical difficulties. we're going to work to get you back on the line to get the latest information. chris jansing reporting from aurora, colorado. we apologize for the technical difficulties. there's new information from the scene, the apartment roughly three miles away from the movie theater where the shooting happens. technicians have been on the scene all night long, trying to find out what they can do to disarm the sophist skaicated ded they found. holmes is the one who tipped police off to the fact the apartment was booby-trapped in the first place. and now is not cooperating with investigators, has retained his own legal counsel. we're going to bring in tanner coon, tanner, it's good to have you back with me. we had a chance to speak earlier today. as we have heard your story, just recount for everybody where you were in the theater as

. >> joining me now is nbc's chris jansing of course, host of "jansing & co."s the authorities went into the apartment, now they're getting access to the apartment, his computer, things like that, we still don't have that answer that we in the press and we in the country i think all are looking for which is simply why did he do it. >> well, that is the key question. and it may be weeks, months, we don't know if we'll ever know from james holmes would provoked this terrible, terrible attack here in aurora. behind me is the courthouse where for the first time since that horrible shooting that he's accused of perpetrating, we will actually have a chance to see him and to hear from him. this is not technically an aarraignment, chuck. it's called an advisement hearing. that's pretty much what it is. the judge is going to advise him of what he's facing which will be a huge series of first-degree murder charges and attempted murder charges. his main public defender will be a dan king, assisted by tamron bradley. two of the most experienced in the public defender's off

nbc's chris jansing is live near the theater there in aurora. good day to you, chris. tell me what is the latest from there on this sad sunday. >> reporter: good morning, alex. this is a day to remember the victims, the 12 who died, the 58 who were injured, their families and a community that is still grieving. we learned from the mayor as he went from hospital to hospital, looking and meeting with the victims, he has also told us that among those who are critically injured, some still have life -threatening injuries. we are also learning about the gunman inside that theater. we heard from the governor late yesterday that it could have been worse. perhaps we know why. the "associated press" reporting and we have not been able to independently confirm this, that the semi-automatic looifl he was carrying may have jammed early on. this is capable of holding 100 magazine clips, 50 to 60 rounds per minute. if it jammed, it could have meant fewer people died in the theater behind me. let's talk about those victims, because we now do have the names of all 12 remarkable storie
