so it's an honor to represent japantown, oldest japantown, in the nation, and we've been working withwn leaders every step of the way to make sure that the renovation is not harmful to the community and their businesses. i do want to say that we partnered with community leaders to secure the funding, both from the state and the federal government, and i want to thank nancy pelosi for her partnership in funding the peace plaza and thank her for her endorsement of my reelection, i am the only member of the board of supervisors who is a former small business owner. i owned cafe du nord on market street, and i have delivered in office for small businesses, including a small business eviction ban during the pandemic, waiving back rent during the pandemic, and victim assistance for vandalized storefronts, as well as community ambassadors and enhanced cleaning in commercial corridors across our district. so there's plenty more to do. but from japantown to the haight to hayes valley and other parts of our district, we have resilient businesses who are coming back strong after the pandemic. th

here in san francisco since 2012, and i've been proud to call the tenderloin, the castro, and now japantown. my home, i live in district two, and as a first generation college student and queer person making my way to san francisco and really being welcomed by the city has changed my life, i'm really inspired. just by the example that we just saw. of all the great work that lafco is doing and their focus on thinking about how we can use the city's resources to, make san francisco a better place and maximize kind of the opportunities that we really have to think about the whole of government and thinking about how we finance the infrastructure, the housing and the big green transition in front of us. i'm interested in joining lafco, because of that work, and in particular, the kind of like serendipitous fit with a lot of my own background, i've done some work in the community with community groups like the asian pacific environmental network on studying how public banking could support, green retrofits of low income and deed restricted affordable housing. i've written extensively about the b

japantown peace plaza is also underway.it is, demolition is almost complete, so the park pretty much just looks like, oh, there's almost nothing there with the pagoda, and looking lovely. still maintained. and the, there's still access. we're maintaining access to both sides of the japan center mall. throughout construction. we've had to go into some late night, construction work so that we can continue to maintain these, the access points to the to the buildings. buena vista is another project that's coming down the line. this is we're going to be focusing on pathways, and it's the biggest part of this huge park that, needs to be improved. and it's becoming a bit of an impediment to access there. so we will be focusing on asphalt pathway pathways, jackson playground also, we have some big milestones. we've received ceqa clearance concept plan approved, and we are now in design portsmouth square. as i mentioned earlier, we have, a neighbor, the hilton hotel, that has a bridge that connects our park and the hilton. we are wo
