thanks, jared. >> brianna? victor. >>> well, those forced spending cuts, they're in effect and i'm sure you have a lot of questions about how when and how those cuts are going to be felt. we'll answer your questions. >> the longer these cuts remain in place, the greater the damage to our economy. a slow grind that will intensify with each passing day. this is stacy from springfield. oh whoa. hello? yes. i didn't realize i'd be talking to an actual person. you don't need to press "0," i'm here. reach a person, not a prompt whenever you call chase sapphire. why should saturday night have all the fun? get two times the points on dining in restaurants, with chase sapphire preferred. how did i know? well, i didn't really. see, i figured low testosterone would decrease my sex drive... but when i started losing energy and became moody... that's when i had an honest conversation with my doctor. we discussed all the symptoms... then he gave me some blood tests. showed it was low t. that's it. it was a number -- not just

if we don't get that, all of this budget balancing nonsense is irrelevant. >> jared, there's some dispute, the ryan team seems to be back pedaling on the question of are the obama health care taxes really in their budget or not? they're definitely there when you look at the revenue assumptions that they have, they seem to be claiming that no, no, i think we would get rid of tanning salon tax also. >> i actually believe them on that. i believe that in repealing obama care, they're also not taking credit for the revenue from the obama care taxes, and let me get back to a point i made earlier. you see, they have to raise something like $7 trillion in revenue to offset their tax cuts. they can't do that. mathematically, it is impossible. if mitt romney couldn't make the math work, this math is twice as hard. so really interestingly this is a plan to increase the budget deficit because they'll never offset those tax cuts. >> thank you all for joining me tonight. >> thank you. >>> coming up, connecticut came to washington today to plead the case for gun safety. i'll be joined by one of the sand

jared bernstein, good to see you. >> thank you, nice to be here. >> so what made this different? tonight, my friday night would be ruined because i would be calling the hill to figure out what was happening. >> first of all, i'm glad you're here with me, and first of all, technically, republicans wouldn't compromise on revenues, i would say from the economic perspective, you have made this point before, if you actually line them up from severity. if you talk about -- i'll do it in order from worst to best, the breach of security, fiscal cliff, and then sequester. the sequester as you just mentioned, i don't think it takes the economy from growth to recession. i think it takes the economy from current slog to even sloggier slog, and gdp growth is already too slow. so taking the air out of a bicycle that is too wobbly. now that is bad, but perhaps not as bad as some of the other crises were, in terms of its dimension. >> the sequester was an enormous political failure. the things it was meant to do. i was talking to a committee republican the other day. he said the sequester was a
