jared bernstein is a senior fellow at the center on budget and policy priorities. he used to be the chief economist and economic policy adviser to vice president biden. he is also an msnbc and cnbc contributor. for the past six months the economy has generated 100,000 jobs or more each month. this hasn't happened since april of '06. can the president take full credit, full credit for this that the economy is on the rise, it's solidly building back up? >> look, presidents always take full credit for improving economies and get full blame for ones that are getting worse. >> right. >> and certainly though i think the president can in fact point to many of the measures that he and also the federal reserve hit very hard with back when he took office. one of the charts i made this morning looked at just the horrific job losses if you go back to 2009 and compared them to the gains that we made over the full year, 2011. now we have full year numbers. 1.9 million jobs in the private sector over the year. that's a sharp, sharp swing from the big negatives being posted when t
