the governor, jared polis joins us now. you said you were resisting this mask mandate. a, why were you resistant and what made you change your mind? >> we've been focused on wearing masks since march and had about 65% of the state that had a municipal or county mask requirement, which we were very supportive of. and, really, that's where the enforcement is. but, you know what, at the end of the day that leaves 35% of our state behind. what we found over the last few weeks is the areas of our state, the 65% that had mask orders had lower spread of the virus and about 15% greater mask wearing usage. so, therefore, based on that information, we decided to take it statewide. >> not wearing a mask is now a crime. you said it would be considered trespassing. are you confident that you have the authority to make that call and do you plan to enforce it? >> yeah, i mean, if somebody is in a business without a mask or naked or without a shirt, if it requires a shirt for service or without shoes, they are tess pr trespassing. they can call local law enforcement and say they have s

governor jared polis his joining me.w you've seen an increase in cases but what about hospitalizations and recovery rates. do you have an update? >> hospitalizations usually leg about a week or two behind new cases. we have been steady in the 150 to 350 per day range for a couple weeks now. there's been a slight uptick and we are on it. it has been regional in certain areas. part of their issue is we are in the areas with the states. we border texas and arizona and we have a lot of people visiting from those states and reintroducing it to colorado. >> dana: a week ago you decided to make some changes and add some closures. do you see anything, any more of that to happen? >> we hope to prevented. our economy is certainly open. we were one of the earlier states to end the stay-at-home corner but bars are really hard to figure out. the nature of what people do in a bar is socialize and we want people to be able to do it. i don't think any state has figured out how t successfully have a bar or nightclub environment in this p

jared pol-- governor jared polis from colorado, and some of the ski areas are more popular in the summerka governor now, good to have you. how are things going in nebraska these days? i know there was a bit of a spike, i don't know if it was continuing, spike, i put it in quotation marks. generally compared to other states, you seem to have it under control. what's the latest? >> good morning, thanks for having me on. we're doing really well in nebraska. things we focus on is hospitalization, our hospitalizations are as low as they've been since we've been able to get good data. probably as low as the middle of april. about 100 people in the hospital right now who have coronavirus and that's out of 4,000 hospital beds. we've got over 40% of our hospital beds are available and 40% of icu and 40% of our ventilators. we're in very good shape. cases remain reasonably steady. a little bit of increase last week, but the average of the last seven days 160 cases so you can see it really wasn't that much. we're going to continue to monitor it and continue to make sure that if anybody is infected
