why so much information about the private life of jeff jarvis?it was very therapeutic and very helpful. people gave me information i wouldn't have otherwise gotten. friends who had the surgery -- i didn't know that -- only knew that i was going to have it because i went public with it. they gave me incredible advice. i also think that we got some people inspired to test for psa. i hope that you've tested, as well. these are important. if you think about it, why is health so secretive? there's a fear that you're not going to get a job or insurance. that's a problem of society and law. there's a fear of stigma. look what women have done with breast cancer to break out and put up pink ribbons and say this is important. well, why not men with their prostate cancer, the testicular cancer? >> jeff, you went on howard stern's radio show. he said you were being do graphic about your private parts. >> i did go into detail about the -- what i got. i'll spare you that, thanks. >> clearly you've become this pied piper of sharing and living your life on line.

rebecca jarvis is here with a look at how apple grew and it just -- i mean, they aren't words to describe, especially in the last few years. >> especially the last decades, it's exponential. you go back to the first mcintosh computer debuted in january of 1984, this was a little company by comparison to what it is today. $3.50 stock and, all of a sudden, gets fired. a year later, 1985, the stock plummets to $1.71. this is after a little internal coup. there were some internal politics taking place in the company. jobs returns to the company in december of 1996. the stock is up $5 stock. all of a sudden, you fast forward five more years, the stock goes up to $11 when the power book debuts in january of 2001. then itunes comes along. we know itunes and becomes synonymous with music and the way americans and people around the world buy their music. apple shares get up to $13.50. the ipod debuts a few weeks later in 2003. $22.50 is the stock. the iphone comes along in 2007. this is where things get really heated. $122 for share of apple. in june of 2007. because of that iphone. then the ipad.

business and economics correspondent rebecca jarvis joins us this morning with more. so give us an idea what are people expecting this morning? >> analysts on average are expecting to learn today that the economy created 65,000 jobs in the month of september and that did nothing for the unemployment rate. in fact, it notched higher to 9.2% according to their expectations. two things to keep in mind when you look at these numbers. first off, last month, economists and analysts got that number wrong. they actually thought it was going to be better than what it turned out to be. second of all just to keep pace with population growth, you need 150,000 new jobs every month, so this number, even though there is jobs created, it doesn't keep pace with population growth and when you go back in time and you look back at where we have been in this economy, for two years, plus now, we have been near or above 9% unemployment. you have to go all the way back to january of 2008 to find a time where unemployment was at a norm normalized level which was 5%. >> will the numbers disclo
