jason snipe, a cnbc contributor. and jason, good morning. good to have both of you jasons here.ason, i'm going to start off with you. up 6% in the earnings, beating the market by about 5%. were you surprised by that reaction? >> not too surprised. i mean, look, both of these stocks have been, you know, trading in a difficult fashion, given the correction in housing. we've seen a slowdown. we have to remember we're coming off a big bulge in demand from the pandemic. stock we owned was growing, revenues north of 20% in 2021. this is a company that prepandemic was doing more in the 6% to 7% topline growth. we had this big bulge. we've seen this hang over on the other side. repair and remodel has slowed down. look, these companies have been challenged a bit. i think the reason we're seeing a reaction is they're both trading, i would argue at a reasonable valuation relative to its growth, relative to history. and, oh, by the way, we had the fed likely beginning to cut rates next month. that has a bit of support for these stocks. i think investors are starting to position themselves a

jason: if you look at how they u.s. treasury side of things have price, we have talked about that before, i think if you look at the asian currency from select ones, they are actually quite benign. take malaysia, for example. there's not many expectations of any rate cut at this juncture. that takes into account some of the subsidiary removals. watch for thailand, there's some expectations of easing, but not a lot. indonesia may be a bit more. but when you look at the prices relative to what's happening with the u.s., if the fed does cut 50 pips, that could cause a rather attractive change on the easing pricing within the markets, where we see a seller difference. if you look at the inflation across the region, there has never been any shares per se for thailand, malaysia, indonesia. it has been manageable. if you take that into account for real rates, there is room for easing. because of this, we have been advocating more constructive this year on this overall asia duration across the malaysia, thailand and indonesia.

it's great to have you with us, jason.us followed your story, and being detained in iran. you know something about what these americans are going through now. what might be happening in the journey home, things like psych evaluations, et cetera. >> the first step is to gather information about their physical well being, to ensure that they're doing okay, that they don't have any medical needs that need to be addressed immediately. then, you know, the hard work of beginning to psychologically unpack what they have been through starts pretty quickly. in terms of intelligence gathering and debriefing, that tends to happen a little bit later, but those first hours, really just trying to introduce these individuals to freedom, to life, to choice. which had been stripped from them for so long. >> let's talk more about that, especially longer term. what are those challenges of reintegration, what are they facing in the weeks and months to come. >> there's so much challenges, i don't even know where to start. there's very practica

jason, i want to start with you. what do you think israel accomplished with these strikes other the weekend? >> well, this is advantageous for israel for a number of reasons. number one, they have to find a way to take attacks against hezbollah which are not jeopardizing the populations. when you look at the terrain in southern lebanon, you have a good opportunity to do that in that number two, they have to signal to hezbollah and iran behind much of this that they're not going to sit back. hezbollah has to do the same thing, you open this piece. with some of the signaling that's happening, making sure that the door is left open for future quote-unquote attacks while israel is doing the same thing. this is about regional hegemony. chaos, an anti-western slant. and using proxies like the houthi rebels, hamas and lebanon is an effective way to create a buffer. what israel has done in this case essentially a bit of a brush-back pick. both sides have also signaled they're not interested in escalation here. that's a good
