here's kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks. >> reporter: we always like to hear that prices going down. and we're really seeing that at the pump. the labor department's consumer price index for august fell two- tenths of a percent first decline in about a year and a half. you can chalk that up to energy prices down 2.6%, led by pump prices and natural gas. food prices rose two-tenths of a percent. over the past 12 months, consumer inflation up 1.7%. that's well under the fed target of 2%. and speaking of the federal reserve, it wraps up its two- day policy meeting today. and the absolute key for investors is whether or not the fed policy statement will include the phrase, considerable time" when maintaining its federal funds rate at the record low for six years. if it does take that language out, that could signal a rate hike within the next six months and we'll see how wall street reacts to that news if that happens. probably won't be all that good. the stock market has been built up over the past several years thanks to the fed low interest rates. let's take a look at the
