cnn's jason carol reports from philadelphia. >> reporter: the mangled wreckage strewn on the tracks, the data recorder recovered from the first car has already revealed the train was traveling at least twice as fast as it should have been. 106 miles per hour. as it entered the corner where it derailed late tuesday. just moments before the derailment, the train was placed into engineer induced braking and this means that the engineer applied full emergency, full emergency brake application. the train was traveling at approximately 106 miles per hour. three second later when the data to the recorders terminated, the train speed was 102 miles per hour. >> reporter: the train scheduled to leave philadelphia's union station at 9:10 tuesday night derailed ten minutes later at 9:21. passengers say it felt like the train was going too fast as it headed into a left hand turn then chaos. >> they were thrown out of their seats. one girl slammed into, one of the seats. and there were a lot of fractures, you know, arms, shoulders, all kind of fractures. >> i could see the blood on people's faces.

jason carol is live in philadelphia, jason, you'll have to help me understand this because we have the confirmation that a body was discovered this morning by the cadaver dogs, it was extracted from the wreckage and taken to the medical examiner, but then we have additional reporting that someone, the eighth victim had died at the hospital, and then we have, i think, reporting with someone you've spoken to, and that is the uncle of one of the missing. can you try to make sense of this for me? >> well, what i can do is i can talk about the uncle. and that's what you were asking about, ken bino, he is the uncle of robert gildersleeve. that is the businessman from baltimore who boarded in baltimore, who was among those unaccounted for as of this morning. i can tell you that when i spoke to ken this morning, he said that he had just left the crash site. he was there with investigators when a body was indeed found there, a body found in the business cross car, the elite car, the one that sustained the most damage. he said he was on his way to the morgue to make, what he believed, to be a po

jason raison his future hangs in the balance. let's talk live in the "cnn newsroom." >>> good morning. i'm carol costello. thank you for joining me. in houston, a river runs through it. believe it or not this used to be a freeway and not a waterway and it flows right through the nation's fourth largest city this morning. houston is virtually cutoff. floodwaters swallow interstates and major roads. schools are closed. public transportation is shut down and the worst may be yet to come. six people are dead in texas and in oklahoma. 12 people still missing. that's just from one small area west of houston. just outside austin in hays county as many as 400 homes swept off their foundations and washed away. many of them with the people still inside. so let's begin our coverage in hays county with cnn meteorologist jennifer gray. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, carol. we're standing right in front of those homes as you mentioned. some wiped comepletely off their foundation. i want to start with the river. the river is down now. just a couple days ago it was as high as i'm standing. it rose 43 fee
