everyone has a wonderful evening and i'd like to bring up two amazing people our city starter and jason elliott. >> good evening, everyone. so this time last year we were at the impact awards and mayor lee came up here and we had a long-running joke that i've been with the city almost 20 years and i never got an impact award. he said the same thing too because you know he started his career and he mentioned that when he gave his remarks. i thought about it this year about all the thing he did, not as mayor because as mayor you have a 33,000 workforce so you have an idea they move heaven and earth to try to implement it if you can through the bureaucracy and we get wonderful programs that come out of the mayor's idea and board of supervisors ideas, but as city administrator he allowed other people to get the awards. one as city administrator he implemented 3-1-1. he was the one who worked with the deputy city administrator ben rosenfeld who got the call senator off the ground. as city administrate, unfortunately, the events of hurricane katrina happened and he was with the public utilities commi

i'm going to turn this over to jason elliott, who is mayor farrell's chief of staff for opening remarks. >> nice to see you all again. i was reminded by these lovely talking points put in front of me, that it's been one quarter since we convened in this forum and i was looking at everything that happened here between the pier 39 shooter and the fires in north bay and the flooding in texas and all of the other places. so much has happened and it feels like it's been months and months, but what an eventful few months and i think nothing more eventful for me personally and us in city hall, when we lost mayor lee. you know, that was such a tragedy and we try to remember him every day as many ways and times as we can. so i'll just invoke his name one more time here, because as you all knew, you worked with him for years, decades, emergency preparedness was nearest and dearest to his heart in all of the ways that we mean emergency preparedness, whether it means through the first responders and public safety people. whether it means through preparing with resiliency for the economic resiliency

basically a number of department heads, including representatives from the mayor's office including jason elliott and kate howard as well as the director of public health, homelessness, director of public works, the sheriff to talk about our joint efforts on being responsive to the homeless population and making sure we have livable safe city streets and we've started to meet on a regular basis typically a monthly basis. we're meeting again later this month to talk about some of the initiatives. also, attended that day -- it was the last sister city that was joined through the mayor's administration just in september when he visited kiel germany. someone came out and i attended that event to welcome him coming from germany. we conducted assistant deputy chief interviews for the division of training. we had 9 applicants, and we interviewed 5 individuals and made our selection this captain. president cleaveland, i appreciate you meeting with us regarding the artwork at station 5. that's a work in progress, but really appreciate your guidance and support on that particular issue. also, participated
