for stock prices after last week's huge rally. 8% up for the nasdaq in one week, that was pretty good. jasonatz, market watcher of the day with me now. the federal reserve and the market is hanging on every nuance of the fed. where are they going with rates? >> it's not what they're going to do, it's what they're not going to do. what they're not going to do is bring the terminal rate in our view to over5%. there are three pieces to the puzzle here with respect to the fed. number one is the amount of hikes. we think we only have two more left. the number two is the level, where do they land and they land at around 4.5%. but three, and this is definitively the most parent factor because the fate of the market in the next six to twelve months is contingent on this and that's how long they remain there. we don't even know the effect of the previous hikes with respect to corporate earnings because it's really a next quarter event. if they keep their foot on the gas or at least stay humming at that level for prolonged period of time, it'll have a profound effect on the economy and earnings. that'

jason brady at thornburg, good to have you back on again. i know there's people who have to be looking at meta and thinking, wow, down 72% threw fourths of its value, there is got to be value there. is there value there, or is this the classic value trap >> that's a great question, brian. i would say that what is happening within the dynamic of the ownership of that name happens a lot in markets, right? where a name goes from being a growth leader to becoming a value name, and that's a painful process. that's one which often overshoots from a price perspective. the real question for meta is what is the r.o.i. that they're spending on the metaverse. it's still very cash flow genre tiff in its main business, and the growth is slowing a lot, but it's a very successful business, one where you should be willing to pay some interesting multiple, but the meta in question is enormous. >> are you guys looking at it? okay, valuations have come down, but the core business is going down how do we look at this company this is -- this is like a 2001-like

jason, is a gop win good for the markets? when i say win, take the house, take the senate, is that good for the markets? >> is it good for the market when you don't have regulation? the short answer is yes. the market is sniffing it out and look at performance of energy, defense stocks, of pharmaceuticals, financials, they've all outperformed in the last week where we didn't have such a good market. make no misseating about it. this election is a referendum on the economy. and the fed can't do it alone. listen, raising rates, quantitative easing. that only goes so far. that blunt instrument goes so far. it has to come from a policy perspective. this is a critical election and the markets are waiting with baited breath and we get a red wave, which is base case, i don't know if we'll take off and the market sniffed it out but it's the starting point for perhaps a move in the right direction. stu: which sectors of the market are you concentrating on right now that you like? >> above and beyond the normal republican sectors, i th
