jason law live at the gas station in rehoboth. that station expected to open back up this morning. >> reporter: yeah, it is dark right now this morning and it is going to open back up. it opened up at 2:30 yesterday afternoon after it was shut down for four hours. the sun cron is reporting this morning the suspect held out a x box video controller and the reports said he was ranting for getting treatment for people suffering from mental health. he may himself be suffering from undiagnosed mental health issue. the suspect is benjamin kimball from north attleboro. he is facing a number of charges after business were called to the cumberland farms around 7:00 morning. he made all kinds of threat. threaten ed to harm the woman working inside the store and threatened to kill police and investigators. skyfox of him surrounded by police. the swat team had to use flash bangs and k-9s to end the standoff peacefully. they have not said what may have set this guy off, but the chief of police said he needs to be checked out for some kind of m

jason law was outside barrett russell elementary and, jason, that has been an ongoing issue with that park. >> reporter: yeah, gene, still dark out here but essentially and the elementary school is right here. they are right next to each other. this is an elementary school dedicated for kindergartners. so you are talking about little kids, 5, 6 years old going back to school this morning. and, again, the problem is this city park which officials admit is a hot spot for heroin. we were out here yesterday and took us less than an hour to find seven dirty needles left out in the open within sight of this school. in fact police officers came out to see what we were doing after we started asking questions and together with the officers, we picked up 14 dirty as you mentioned, gene, not the first time we have reported on this problem. we first shined light on ish this ubac in august. we went back to the park yesterday ahead of the first day of school to see if things have gotten better and frankly they have it. still needles all over the place. we interviewed the mayor of brockton and a con

fox25's jason law is live at the rehoboth cumberland farms are whether it all started. jason. >> reporter: catherine those threats were made at this cumberland farms on route 44 in rehoboth that started around 7 a.m. and ended around 11:00. this went on for very long time. police were very concerned. the man in custody was from north attleboro, benjamin kimball. police were called to this cumberland when he made threats. threaten ed to kill police and harmed a woman working inside the store and threatened to light a gas pump on fire. because of that a precaution this cumberland farms the people running it had to shut down their gas pumps. they had to use flash bangs, k-9 and a bean bag gun. they have not said at this point what set this man off but the police chief says he the officer. in a very agitated state. i am imagining could be mental health issues as well that will have to be determined at morton hospital. >>> a very scary confrontation but the good news is nobody was hurt. unclear if kimball remains in the hospital will he be in court when arraigned by a judge s

fox 8 live jason law is live outside jason carmen's home and that's just -- fox 25's jason law is live outside jason carmen's home. >> the reporter: this involves mission agencies in vermont, connecticut, and rhode island. we are in frt of her son where he lives in vermont and tonight, he remains at the center of this investigation. the posters and yellow ribbons outside linda carmen's home are faded now, along with the hope she'll ever return. investigators believe linda died off the coast of new york when her son's fishing boat mysteriously sank. the south kings police department released a statement, saying the detectives are currently and jointly investigating the facts and we know nathan, they are son, has been the center of a criminal investigation before. in 2014, police named him the primary suspect in his grandfather's murder and even requested a warrant for his arrest, but nathan was never charged. on page 6 of the eight page police affidavit from 2014, it says that a warrant for the pay rest of nathan carmen was submitted for the charge of murder, but that warrant was return

jason law is live in connecticut, with new information about another unsolved death in the staple family. -- same family. >> the reporter: that's right, mark, tonight, there are still posters and ribbons outside linda carmen's home in friends and family shortly after she disappeared with her son. tonight, we are learning more about her father's unsold murder three years ago and the millions of dollars left behind. john was known for his massive christmas lights display on his sprawling 82-acre property if chesterfield. just days before christmas, 2013, john was found shot and killed new side his home. when he died, he left behind answer at a time worth millions. that showed 87-year-old left more than $44 million to his family. no one has ever been arrested for his murder, but police records show nathan, his grandson, was the prime suspect. investigators said they found inconsistencies in nathan's story. he was the last one to see his grandfather alive and according to a police affidavit, he threw away his computer and other pieces of potential evidence. in 2014, police in windsor, connec

fox 25's jason law is live outside his home, which is getting a lot of attention tonight. jason? >> reporter: yeah, they than's home is receiving attention from not just police but media, through are news crews from boston and connecticut, of course, where his mother was from. now, i want to show you this house here, in southern vermont. it's a big house, this white building here. neighbors tell us that carmen was actually building it himself. he was living here without electricity, in fact, we know investigators executed a search warrant monday night and removed a cable modem, gps sim card and a hand written letter by the 22 by the coast guard sunday and interviewed for several hours this week, carmen did return to the home in vermont last night. he left sometime around 8:00 and it's up clear where he is today, but again, lot of reporters and camera crews outside his house today. we have learned today that he was also a suspect in the murder of his grandfather back in 2013. according to records from police in windsor, connecticut, a warrant was issued for his arrest for the murd
