either not asking him to come or -- the power panel david webb, host on the patriot channel and jason nicholsity of maryland professor of african-american studies. jason, he is toxic to democrats. what say you? >> well, dagen, the first thing i will say is malcolm x once said history is qualified to award all research. presidential endorsements in battleground states are not effective. i take you back to 2020. trump endorsed martha mcsally in arizona. she lost. he endorsed two candidates in georgia, incumbent candidates and they both lost again and tried to help purdue and he lost by 50 points. if something we should learn by recent history maybe president should stay away and let the races be run locally. biden should strengthen his own poll numbers and look toward his own political future. when you look at what trump did when he endorsed people in battleground states where it's razor thin sometimes it makes it more of a partisan race. these people want to represent their particular state whether it's arizona, georgia, pennsylvania, or wisconsin. >> dagen: david. trump is not on the ballot.

power panel now, david avila, jason nichols. gentlemen, great to have you in "focus." power panel. your first response to that question that i just asked. will all of this be enough to move voters? >> well, first of all thank you for having me, harris. i think -- i hope democrats actually learn a lesson that you don't wait until the 11th hour to tout your accomplishments. there is someone on the other side who is always screaming about your shortcomings hour after hour. we know president biden has passed legislation on gun reform that respected people's second amendment rights, infrastructure bill that the other administration couldn't pass, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, fulfilling his promises on climate. i think that they needed to yell this a little bit earlier and needed to talk about this a little bit earlier. whether it will make a difference in november remains to be seen. but i think it certainly will make things a lot closer because he is actually fulfilling his promises and could actually excite his base. >> 7 in 10 americans think we're going in the wrong dire
