joining the panel this week, wall street journal columnist and deputy editor, dan henninger and jason rileyd poe potomac watch columnist. >> what do you think of that ad? >> i think republicans are regaining their foreign policy mojo and it's good to see. as you mentioned, obama's foreign policy approval rating well under water here. and republicans see an o(ening. the isis threat has been in the news and americans don't like to see that. they don't necessarily want to world but they expect their president to lead. clearly obama has not been doing that. i think the republicans see an opening here. >> who is that ad targeted to? is this the reason base to get them fired up? because they tend to be more aukish or women voters who are often said to worry much more than men about security issues? who is it aimed at? >> women and independents and all of the people that jason just mentioned that are showing up in the polls saying they are very unhappy with the president's handling of this rising terror threat and far more open to the idea of air strikes and other things to take out the terrorists

joining us now wall street journal editor jason riley also author of the book please stop helping us. state senator down there was arrested last night protesting, she claims that she's offering an alternative to violence even as if it seems she can be looked upon as inciting these crowds. what are your thoughts? >> i think a lot of people are behaving badly in ferguson in the name of helping blacks and they're really only helping themselves. and that's unfortunate. i think it's unfortunate. we have these leaks -- you know, i have no inside information i wouldn't be at all surprised if it was a government official. basically trying to prepare the black community and black america frankly for the likelihood that there will be no federal charges brought. lou: as you instruct that sentence, prepare black america, black folks in this country, but i would hope that we all could be prepared. and i think we would have been better prepared frankly had we heard whatever the conclusion is of these investigations down there. there are three of them going on. and the grand juries could have it see

. >> and "wall street journal" jason riley joins us. race baiting. a lot of the ads has been going on in the south and then you have this comment from senator land drew. is that sort of a democratic strategy or is the "new york times" reading too much in this. >> an absolutely strategy white house on down. this is what they have been doing. scaring blacks to the polls. i would just remind senator land dupre in 2006 john kerry in. states like texas, and georgia, and the carolinas and virginia. if the south has a problem with obama's skin color, that's a funny way of showing it. >> is this sort of a recent thing that we go down to the wire that he would are now hearing more of these racial issues instead of like a hail mary toss? she has a tough race down there. is that why we are hearing this? >> she has a tough race and the president's approval rating is down in the state pol. state of louisiana, particularly with regard to energy. as she mentioned in the first part of her answer. so she has got a problem there. she wants the president black voters t

. >> here with reaction are "the wall street journal's" jason riley, the weekly standard's stephen hayes, and outnumbered co-host kirsten powers is with us. let me set the stage for my question this way. the president's -- relax. the president's jv comment. the president a month ago saying it was a fantasy to support the syrian opposition, pharmacist, doctors and that comment that he made, blaming the intelligence community on "60 minutes." the intelligence community firing back, no, we warned the president in granular detail on isis and what would happen in iraq like what president bush said. how do you make that many mistakes? these are monumental. >> well, i would argue that he was right on syria. and that he's changed his position to the wrong position. so he was originally right that there really were no rebels -- >> he was right a month ago? >> well, that was his position even preceding a month ago. that has been his position all along that there really were no rebels that were in a position to at that time we wanted to overthrow assad, we had a completely different purpose for it.
