let's discuss this now with jason stanley, professor of philosophy at yale university. thor of the new book erasing history which details how the worst fascist movements of humanity's past all began in our schools. it is due in september. jason, it's great to have you on the show. i want to start with the premise i laid out in these protests. you have some sitting u.s. lawmakers calling for the national guard to be activated against college students, what does that militarized impulse tell you where we are today is society? >> well, first of all, i would like to note they had snipers on the roofs of buildings in ohio state, and indiana, targeting the students. so, think about that. snipers for peaceful protests. they are trying to set up the universities as the enemy. this vocabulary of universities being filled with pro-hamas terrorists. and we have been hearing this since the fall, since the beginning of all this, since the terrorist attacks on israel on october 7th. they are trying to link professors and students to the terrorists in hamas, and they are doing that in

. >> i was petalking with jason stanley, professor at yale, earlier, and the way this language is used to basically invoke this kind of reaction among officials and politicians to pave the way for this violence we are talking about, that's the dangerous thing, because you don't have adults in the republican party to rein in these folks. >> that moment with john mccain. he defended president obama. >> in retrospective, it was a problematic statement, but again. >> yes, and i would give john mccain the benefit of the doubt, because it was an off- the-cuff comment, i think he generally meant you're using it as an insult. but the point i was trained to make is that there are no republicans who would stand up right now and say these are people who are testing for something they believe in. we may not agree with it, but they should be protected-- >> the majority of the republican party is not the same as it was. there were people who supported that. now it's like they are in a different position. i think that puts our nation in a scary place. >> agreed. the most convenient thing in the world

jason. >> you have bank of america, morgan stanley, and amx and schwab. >> yeah, i have been adding to schwab because it's lagged and i love that story very much and love that the ceo is buying back stock. bank of america, one of my largest positions and so is morgan stanley, and they are unique in terms of bank of america, and they have the wealth management exposure piece that i like that compliments the cap markets piece. good balance sheet and well capitalized. morgan stanley, it will depend on the new ceo and can he be consistent, and they did outperform the last few years, and it's more of a capital markets play but they also have a wealth management business, and ama is also outperforming. >> the xle is up 8% over the last month. yes, it's one of the best performers of the quarter, but really set itself apart over the last 30 days. does that continue? >> you know, i think it does. there's a couple reasons. number one, we talk about this a lot on the show, the supply and demand dynamic, there's an exorbitant amount -- you know, going in the states our driving season and where a lot of t
