jaxon van derbeken our investigative reporter live in san francisco. thank you so much for that insight tonight. in other news, the wrong-way driver accused of killing a bay area mother and son in a head on collision faced a judge for the first time today. prosecutors charged 39 year old duncan park mcqueary, the third, with two counts of murder for the august 26th collision on highway 85, in san jose. investigators claim that florida man drove about nine miles in the wrong direction at speeds of 100mph before running into a tesla. rebecca olson and her 14 year old son, charlie, were in that car and were killed in the crash. mcqueary suffered what the district attorney's office called relatively minor injuries. he did not enter the courtroom during today's initial hearing, but was spotted in a wheelchair in the court's hallway. district attorney jeff rosen says mcqueary was driving under the influence and acting recklessly, both inside and outside the rented truck he was driving that day. we don't know the answer at this point as to why he got out of t

let's bring in our investigative reporter, jaxon van derbeken, who's been tracking these window problems at san francisco highrises for more than a year now. jackson. really remarkable for people walking or riding or driving on that busy street that no one was hurt. what do we know here? what exactly happened? well, the window, as you noted, was being apparently removed to be replaced. and it broke free. and the rest just apparently broke apart while it was falling. so it may have just become somehow compromised and just broke apar, and then as it hit the ground, it struck this motorist who said they were lucky to be alive and obviously started a cascade of other basically damage around the area, including cracking some of millennium tower's windows. okay, so and i believe this seems to be a crew mistake. so a human mistake we don't know for certain, though. does this have anything to do with those window issues that you've been covering extensively that we saw last year during the big windstorms? well, tangentially, yes, in the that the was a failed window at the millennium tower. exper

joining me now is investigative reporter jaxon van derbeken, who has been following these. all these rate increases closely for months. jackson i got to tell you, it feels like groundhog's day. i've done the same interview with you about the cpuc approving a rate hike for pg&e. what four times now? how is that even possible? well, one of them went into effect. it was a gas increase that went into effect on september 1st, and there wasn't much notice on that. but pg&e knew that was coming. and then you have the one that went in effect in january. another one, they saw that in january and they just got and then there was one in march. so three power increases and one gas increase so far this year. now pg&e will be quick to say that they did, let's say a, a power price adjustment in a way, because they had gotten more money in the first part of the year because of an earlier approved rate hike that lapsed in july. so pg&e would say, you know, net net, you're looking they were originally talking about a $50 a year increase, and now it's about 27 by the end of this year. okay bu
