welcome back peter and jay. have 58 films being shown through about 18 days and 101 screenings throughout the bay area. how do you choose what you show? >> with great difficulty. actually. what i was amazed by is the quality of the films we looked at and a lot of great films didn't make it into the festival because we had films that were either better than those or just worked better with our programming. quality is number one as far as i'm concerned, as far as all of us are concerned. along with peter there is joshua moore programming associate. we look at hundreds of films, free screeners helping us, we go to other festivals screening films we are looking for the highest quality jewish films and that is kind of -- we have some freedom with what that means but it doesn't just mean a jewish film maker. >> does that mean the subthemes have a theme around tough guys and a theme around music and a theme around some holocaust oriented themes, some israel, arab oriented themes. those themes emerge in a more organic w

jay gray joins us from venice, louisiana. what about those readings tonight, jay? >> reporter: tom, we just got a new update and the readings are not where they would like them. after 24 hours and we're at that point, they would have loved the pressure to have been at 7500 pounds per square inch pit's at 67. you just saw the pictures. there's a significant difference on the flee of the gulf and that's a good thing. not that big a change on the surface. it's been more than 24 hours now and still no oil. but there is, for the first time, a bit of uncertainty with the pressure readings not to the level engineering and scientists had hoped. >> we're moving ahead in six-hour increments so we can judge the data we have and make decision on moving forward. >> a fleet of underwater cameras help the engineers monitor the situation around the clock. underwater robots are scanning the floor of the gulf searching for any signless of new leaks. and from the white sand beaches along the gulf coast, to the white house, there's a cautious sense of optimism. >> i think it's importa

nbc bay area's jay gray has the latest from louisiana. >> reporter: crews continue to inch closer to the point where they hope to permanently seal the well. >> we continue to make good progression toward the static kill and the bottom relief well. we look to be laying the casing line into the relief well later on this evening, and cementing that, that will set the stage for us to move on with the static kill. >> reporter: during the static kill, thick drilling mud will be drilled through the cap of the well preventer. that will force the mud into the natural petroleum reservoir under the sea bed, and cement will be pumped in to close off the well. the static kill could be finished sometime next week. then teams will move forward with the bottom kill, using the relief well to add more mud and cement. that process could take days and weeks, depending on the progress of the static kill. there's growing concern now over the oil already in the water. streamers of oil and sheen continue to stretch out across the gulf, but not nearly as much as before a temporary cap was put in place over t
