joining me is jay sekelo. were quoted on the new york times piece what does this look like in 2015. you said that the courts are the venue, really to try to keep the presidential authority in check. why do you believe that? >> well jennifer welcome back. the reason the courts are the venue is the founders of our country and founding fathers set up a constitution that has three branchs of government. the president is supposed to execute the laws and the judiciary determines if they are constitutional. impatient presidents don't change the law because they run out of patience. that is what happened with president obama here. the return to the courts is the normal constitutional process you go through when you engage in a situation where the president overreached or acted without congressional authority. he did so in the immigration matter and in the supreme court rejected the president's attempt, 9- 0. and i am hopeful for the same outlook here on the immigration litigation that is now going on. i am in favor of

jay bryson joins us from charlotte, north carolina. jay, great to have you back on the show. let's start with the focus on the u.s. is the boost from consumer spending we expect to get from lower gas prices will that offset weaknesses we might see as a result of the strong dollar? >> yeah, it should. i mean, keep in mind that, you know, consumer spending is two-thirds of the u.s. economy, exports is only 10%. even if consumer spending grows just a little bit and exports really weaken, still given the size of consumer spending it should offset the drag from exports. >> let's broaden out the global picture, jay. what's your outlook for china this year? >> well, so we think china in 2014 grew somewhere around 7.5%. we think that's going to probably slow to something 7%, maybe a little bit below that. as you look into 2016 slower at 6.5%. that's slow by chinese standards. 6% to 7% growth is there. >> how do you see that rippling out through the global economy? >> well, you know, so if you look at some of china's main trading partners in asia, slower growth in china is going to af

jay, thank you for your patience.nt to talk a little bit about the markets where you see opportunity, and i can't help but notice you put some money to work in the energy space lately. are you going to keep doing that? >> well, i think we're going to slow down. some of it is in the upstream energy market but we're cautiously looking at it. from a global point of view i'm very, very concerned and i would probably be the contrarian on the panel. as you know i think asset prices globally are substantially overvalued. as a result of what's happened with the fed and the financial repression and quantitative easing. once this liquidity gets finally sucked out of the market combined with price of oil under $50 with deflation raising its ugly head and all of the global issues with iran or syria, russia, this isis business and this terrorism, any one of which could be a tipping point to really play havoc on global markets. so i am very cautious and we are. what we're doing is what we've always done through sickles is we're buy

jay korff spoke with parents. what did they say? they have to be frustrated. >> indeed, they are deeply disturbed and frustrated shocked. they did not see this coming. kettler iceplex is one of the ice arenas where he coached. for years, timothy worked closely with countless children as a volunteer hockey coach including in arlington. now he is behind bars, arrested under charges of child pornography charges. the parents are beyond shocked by the allegations, saying he was deeply respected and trusted. >> that makes us all question and may be pay more attention. >>her four sons all play hockey in one of them was coached by the suspect. >> he could not believe it. >> several youth parents alerted authorities that a suspicious person was approaching their children online. in one case, he identified himself to a minor on instagram saying he was a 13-year-old girl. investigator set up a staying and caught him sending an undercover officer child port. one persistently or with the coach said those close to him never saw anything out of th

we go live to jay gray outside the courthouse in boston. jay? >> reporter: hey there, good evening, jim. despite multiple requests to either move or delay the start of the trial, as you say, jury selection began this morning, a process that included the suspect in the case. the marathon bombing trial began under heavy security this morning, officers surrounding the motor vehiclely federal courthouse. as many as 500 prospective jurors shared an assembly room with the suspect in the case 21-year-old dzhokhar tsarnaev. tsarnaev seemed to smirk as he took his seat at the defense table and listened as judge o'toole gave brief instructions to the potential jurors before each filled out a questionnaire. attorneys in the court will review the forms, eliminate those ineligible and begin questioning the groups of 20 late next week. >> we try to produce a jury that can fairly and impartially render a verdict, and give a punishment that considers all options, including the death penalty. and life without patrol. >> reporter: tsarnaev has pleaded not guilty

jay korff is live outside the capital tonight. who was this guy? >> according to his father, chris cornell was a good kid. according to a federal complaint, this young man had the intention of detonating bombs at the u.s. capitol am a gunning down lawmakers and staff, but cornell never made it to the capital. >> christopher lee cornell was planning to unleash jihad on the u.s. capitol, according to investigators. he was arrested wednesday in this ohio than store parking lot after buying two rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. according to this criminal complaint, fbi agents began tracking cornell's movements after he got on twitter as raheel mahrus ubaydah and posted statements and other content indicating a support for isil. he told a confidential source, i believe that we should just wage jihad under our own orders. authorities say cornell and the government informant met a few times this past fall and planned to build, plants, and detonate fight bombs at and near the u.s. capitol, and use firearms to shoot and kill employees. >> mr. cor

jay korff, how was it looking? >> the problem is awful and it will only get worse, especially on the side roads. if it is slushy, icy and it has not been cleared, it is only going to get worse because of the re-freeze. it's really bad a few miles away from here. >> don't bring your car on this road. >> this is in clifton, virginia, a coldhearted gut-punch to drivers trying to get home tuesday night. this road claimed a number of victims who could not navigate the incline that residents insist was not touched at all by a salt truck or plow. >> they are normally very diligent about clearing this road, but i only saw one truck along the main road. >> we discovered while mean roads were in good shape, many sidestreets were a slick mess. cars were in ditches through the region. every abandoned vehicle that we saw was on an untreated side road. the police say there were at least 500 crashes this morning in combined jurisdictions. this good samaritan save the day for this we were driver. he attached a toast rap to the fro

jay korff is live at reagan national with the story. how are things shaping up tonight? >> a travel nightmare for a lot of folks trying to get in and around the eastern seaboard. at reagan national airport outside, very bitter cold. it is awful, and nothing is a comparison of what is happening inning -- happening up to the north. boston massachusetts, there is a news vehicle with a camera in the vehicle, driving through the city. people have been warned to stay off the roads and there is not a lot of traffic right now. people are heating the warning and staying off the roadways. we know that the more cars are out there, the more accidents that will happen and they will get in the way of emergency vehicles. new york city, times square is practically a ghost town. pretty much the only folks in new york city right now are the folks who are shoveling walkways. that is an unusual sight, even in new york city. times square is normally bustling this time of the evening. certainly a dicey next few days across the country. this massive storm packing powerful wind is expected to b
