jean noble joins us live. thanks for making the time. >> thanks for having me. >> absolutely. so the cdc guidelines they seem to suggest kids and keecho teachers can go back safely following, you know, certain things, keeping certain things in mind and practice, masking, physical distancing, hand washing and respiratory etiquette. contact tracing and building cleaning ventilation. is that reasonable. >> it's completely reasonable. we've been in the pandemic over a years. we've had time to get the mitt galgs layers hammered out. the cdc has come forward with guidance for schools and time to get the schools open. >> i've heard criticism on both sides with some saying the guidelines make it too hard for schools to reopen while others say it's too easy to open prematurely and recklessly. which argument has data on the side. >> the guidelines, the principal criticism is they peg reopening to community prevailens for seventh through 12th fwrader. they say k through 6th grade can open at any level of community prevailens as long as safety mitigation layers are in place, the ones you

cnn's jean casarez joining me from new york. jean, how are officials preparing for more vaccines? >> reporter: they're asking for it. new york needs it, because here are the statistics they've just come out with. 89% of the first doses they have already administered. they don't have that much left at this point. they're trying to get shots in the arm as efficiently and quickly as possible, but the statistics show that 10 million people in new york are eligible for the vaccine now, and they don't have enough doses of the vaccine for 10 million people. so johnson & johnson, a third supplier, can only be welcomed here in new york. i spoke with people as they were coming out of the javits center, because everyone is coming today for their appointment. you have to have that appointment to get your covid vaccine, because there is a question whether there are some people, especially underserved communities, that aren't getting the vaccine, may not want to or be scared or just can't go to get it. i asked them what their friends and family are telling them. >> you have to consult with your

"today in the bay's" jean elle has the story. >> reporter: the suspect in custody was wearing a courtered ankle monitor when he targeted the delivery monitor and it was the gps device that connected him to the crime scene here. police find a minivan stollen in pacific heights and the two kids safely inside and have made an arrest, 25-year-old erlin romero is in custody linked to the crime scene by gps records. >> the electronic monitoring was a critical part of the investigation that led to his arrest. >> reporter: district attorney sayshe p tice arrested romoer for robbery and a stolen car last year. he says he filed felony charges, but a judge released romero with gps monitoring. >> we did ask the court to detain him in the robbery case and that, again, the more serious of the two cases we asked for detention, and that request was denied by the court. >> reporter: he says romero was on a waiting list for collaborative court and he's now being held on a long list of charges. >> they're not put on people so we can track where the next crime will be. >> reporter: the kidnapping is the

jean elle, nbc bay jar news. >> well, it's going to be sp f. tomorrow, is a big, big day because another covid vaccine option should move closer to being approved. much talk about johnson & johnson vaccine will be reviewed tomorrow by the fda outside advisory panel. and if all goes well and according to plan, emergency authorization could come even by this weekend. that means, 4 million doses being shipped, almost immediately. now, the johnson & johnson vaccine is different than the pfizer and the moderna one because it requires just one shot. and it be kept in a normal fridge. it appears effective against the new-virus variants, also. pfizer and moderna vaccine are slightly more effective but this one, johnson & johnson, is 100% effective at keeping people alive and out of the hospital, they say. pfizer's ceo is providing more insight to his company's vaccine. in an exclusive interview with nbc's lester holt, he was asked if americans will need a booster shot or shot every year as the virus mutates. >> we need to wait. we will have annual vacc

i looked around and it was jean and she was so embarrassed. she came back and sat down and i was just so mad. i remember right after mass i came up to this particular priest and i took off my cassock and i told him, with a shaking voice, you were wrong and what you did. i explained why i said, as long as you are here i am no longer an altar boy. i threw when my chances of becoming the first mexican pope.
