jeanette reyes is live at accident investigation. jeanette, what are the details? >> reporter: well, jim, we learned, "action news" learned the arrest was made shortly after a vehicle was recovered. we did just speak to jayanna powell's father. he's relieved about the news but feels there's much more work to be done. a 24-year-old man is in custody. charges are pending but will likely include leaving the scene of an accident and vehicular homicide. police recovered a vehicle in frazer. that car fit the description given by witnesses. you may remember the 8-year-old girl was walking home from school with her siblings when she was hit at 63rd and thrown nearly 90 feet. she was taken to the hospital where she later died. her family and police pleaded with the community to come forward with any relevant information, even offering $25,000 in reward money. we spoke to powell's family minutes ago after these new developments. here is what the father said. >> hard. with the community helping us and family helping us, it's helping a lot. one day at a time. >> reporter: the
