i'm chief jeanine nicholson and this is my report. since our last commission meeting on may 8. on may 8, chief luttropp and i attended a policy group exercise with dem and pd and all sorts of other departments for a city wide disaster drill for earthquake and chief luttropp shown in the meeting, shined, i don't know the correct term. we have our plan-we have a disaster plan, a strong one, a good one and we are ready to go to work, so there will be some follow-up on that for sure group exercises which i think is really good and should happen on a regular basis with the city. the exercise with a 7.8 earthquake in san francisco, so that was-yeah, good experience. on mother's day, happy belated mother's day tocollins and commissioner feinstein. commissioner fraser and commissioner collins and i attended the sisal williams celebration of life and we went to church that day. it was really quite a wonderful celebration over at glide memorial and the end of a era. this week-monday we had the unveiling of the headuators mural. you may have seen photos of it, but seeing in person is pret

i know what they need to be successful. >> i have known jeanine nicholson since we worked together at station 15. i have always held her in the highest regard. since she is the chief she has infused the department with optimism. she is easy to approach and is concerned with the firefighters and paramedics. i appreciate that she is concerned with the issues relevant to the fire department today. >> there is a retired captain who started the cancer prevention foundation 10 years ago because he had cancer and he noticed fellow firefighters were getting cancer. he started looking into it. in 2012 i was diagnosed with breast canner, and some of my fellow firefighters noticed there are a lot of women in the san francisco fire department, premenopausal in their 40s getting breast cancer. it was a higher rate than the general population. we were working with workers comp to make it flow more easily for our members so they didn't have to worry about the paper work when they go through chemo. the turnout gear was covered with suit. it was a badge to have that all over your coat and face and hel

[applause] and the rest of you guys too. i just wanted to touch on just a few quick things, because i don't know why pride is timed around budget season. you all know, i can't show my face unless i make sure those investments are taken care of and from day one on the board of supervisors, scott wiener has been the person to say, mayor or at the time i was supervisor, we have to make sure that those federal cuts for hiv aids that continue to come down the pipeline and continue to backfill them and that has been the thing i have done consistently every single year, and this year is no different, even during a budget deficit year.
