our homeland security correspondent, jeanne meserve, is joining us. t we know. >> wolf, i'm hearing from law enforcement sources that they have not given the all-clear yet, but at this point in time, they have not found any explosives on this individual or on the aircraft. they also have found no derogatory information about this individual, who allegedly made this threat on the aircraft, in any of the terror databases that the u.s. government maintains. this individual is described as a u.s. citizen, late 20s from the state of florida. he made claims on board this flight that he had explosives in his luggage and that he had false documentation. air marshals on the flight broke cover and they diverted the flight to bangor, maine. there the 235 passengers and 13 crew members were taken off the flight. they are still being questioned, and so is this individual. the fbi is leaving the investigation, leading the questioning, to figure out whether or not this individual indeed posed is security threat. the early indications are, wolf, that he did not. back

. >> also on the phone, jeanne meserve, what are you hearing from your sources? >> reporter: they're questioning all the people on that flight. they're going over the aircrafts, they're being extra careful that nothing of significance has occurred here. but in the meantime, i think what i'm hearing is largely what the others have heard, that this individual was in a restroom, he took a long time, a federal air marshall became curious about what he was doing. interrupted him to find out what was going on, and this man is -- i'm told by a u.s. official, made an unfortunate remark about possibly having a shoe bomb, and that is what led to this incredible series of event this is afternoon as they try toer if et out exactly what was going on. i can tell you, having troubled with the federal air marshalls one time, one of the things they very much keep their eye on is what's happening with the restrooms, because there's always been fear that someone could hide something in there, and someone on board a flight could be retrieving it. there's also concern that something

jeanne meserve is live at denver international airport.e are learning more about what exactly happened. >> reporter: right. it was a scary couple of hours. all the alarms were going off. in the end, it did turn out to be a false alarm. a diplomate from the embassy of cutter was on board that aircraft. he was taken into custody. he may have been smoking in the restroom of that aircraft. he came back to his seat. several passengers and other people noticed the odor. he was questioned. he made an unfortunate remark which alluded to his shoes and led them to believe that they might be dealing with another shoe bomber. those f-16s were launched. they escorted the aircraft here to denver. in the end, no explosives were found on board. they did go through that boeing 757 with a fine tooth comb, came up with nothing. they talked to the 157 passengers and the six crew. all of that took four or five hours. we talked so some of the passengers as they came off. it was surprising to hear home of them had absolutely no idea that anything alarming was ha
