we welcome our political contributor, jeanne zaino. what about this tax issue?s to be real this time. charm: third time is that in new jersey. they were able to get a deal on what they call the millionaire's tax. it took three times and also a pandemic and some pretty difficult fiscal times for them to reach this deal, which governor murphy have been pushing for, but the democratic legislature has held off. we are hearing that they are going to raise four residents making more than a million dollars a year to a higher tax rate. they are also -- in the deal, a recurring $500 a year rebate for families with one child and ifome less than $150,000 they are a couple, 75,000 if they are single. probably a precursor of debates that will go on in the state depending on what happens in november. in particular of new york state, where the governor has resisted this call, it will certainly gain momentum following new jersey. david: does it affect voters if they don't think that they are going to get taxed? jeanne: i think that for democrats in particular this is a welcome

. -- with jeanne zaino covering that. i think trump is trying to figure out if there are states he can put into play he did not win in 2016. right now, the electoral map is decidedly advantageous for biden. if you added up where the states are that are divided, joe biden probably has about 100 point lead on the electoral college going into election month in october, just a week from now. trump needs to get some action going. the states he is fighting in are close, so he cannot afford to lose very many, and it would be nice for him to find a state that could come on board, either confirmation process the supreme court will do, or on some of the issues he is picking on. the problem is the things in the public domain do not give the trump campaign much of an advantage. covid, the flagging economy, civil strife, and alice supreme court will free things up for at least a week and there is no decided advantage for him there, either. david: always great to have you with us. that is our bloomberg contributor, rick davis. he did m
