we are back with jed kleckner. we were talking in the break. senate will be looking as early as today at minimum rage, talking about raising it to $10.10 per hour. there are lots of questions as to whether that would do anything to reverse or help close the income inequality gap that has become so significant and severe in our country. what do you think? >> we have over 10,000 merchants on our platforms, small businesses. small businesses are the driver of the economy. we want people to be paid well, and one way we help in that for is thatn that forum there is an opportunity to tip the person delivering to the door, and we encourage a large tip for providing the service, as opposed to putting that as a convenience fee. letting a consumer have a say in what the merchant is paid. but they don't necessarily have to pay the minimum wage. >> that is the point. we are saying that the consumer has an opportunity to be able to validate the work the person is providing. >> so a little more free-market private enterprise as opposed to the government sayi

what's your favorite group, jed? >> guest: well, we could talk about the mormons. >> host: the mormons. how do we see triple package in action with mormons this particular? >> guest: sure, great. you know, the starting point of our book was this remarkable fact which many people sensed but we really documented it that there's several groups that are really outperforming the national average in terms of income and educational achievement. and amy just went through the ones that we focus on. so then we -- and we identified those independently as rigorously as we could. then we started looking at the groups wondering, asking ourself toes are we going to find any cultural commonalities. and before i get to the mormons, why look for cultural commonalities? why not suppose there's something else going on that might explain their success? hopefully, we'll talk about alternative explanations later, but just in a nutshell if you look at something like asian-american academic success, you're instantly struck if you really do y
