kron 4 jeff bush got a closer look at all the work they were doing today he went out on a boat to get a firsthand look at them building this tower. >> was a time in a boat ride once we get up close to the new tower it was clear how big it was. the tower which is the first of four is a hundred and 65 ft. tall and weighs more than 2 million lbs.. the four pieces will make up the base of the tower that will support the weight of the suspended roadway. this is a slow evolution they say it will take about 12 hours basically what happening is this still section is being slowly over will be dropped into place on a platform the size of a basketball court. this is the equipment that's moving the tower it's called a string-g jacks. the tower is being suspended by that thick cable of the top. you can see each base tower will go between the two roadways. it's an impressive sight once cal trinkets isn't a place they want to do it again three more times to complete the base of the tower. when the tower is complete it will be 525 ft. tall and visible miles long. they should have the new eastern span
