we're awaiting a major announcement from the attorney general jeff sessions. you'll see that live this morning. they'll sue the state of california because they're making impossible, they argue, for federal immigration official to do their job in the golden state. they call the recent laws unconstitutional saying they harm public safety. we'll have more coming up in a matter of moments here. first though, we are live from the white house on a critical day at another critical time for the trump administration. another big departure inside the west wing as president trump's chief economic adviser gary cohen announces he'll leave his post. i'm bill hemmer, live from the white house. a special edition of "america's newsroom." sandra, good morning to you in new york. >> sandra: looking like a chilly but lovely morning. >> bill: i think the weather reflects what we've seen in the past 12 hours. i just spoke with wilbur ross the secretary. he wasn't giving up much but between him and what the president said last night they believe they have good candidates. who that

jeff? >> glor: paula, thanks very much. stay with us, because on another matter, the lawyer m presenting adult film actress d onmy daniels said on "cbs this morning" today, he wants to question the president under oath about that non-disclosure agreement. michael avenatti filed a motion to that affect today. paul last, what does he want the ask president trump, and how likely is he to get that chance? >> reporter: well, avenatti is arguing that $130,000 non- disclosure agreement that his client signed is part of an effort to affect the election and could've violated federal law. he's asking to put the president under oath and ask what the president knew about that agreement and why it happened when it did. in his motion, he notes that former president bill clinton had to be deposed about things that happened before he entered the white house, and he cites supreme court precedent that says presidents don't have any protection from civil lawsuits about things that happen before they enter the white house. up until now, this w

>> reporter: very busy times here, jeff. a blizzard full-fledged across the northern plains and upper midwest tonight. very strong winds up and down the plains with high-wind warnings as well as wind advisories. gusts over 60mph at times. blizzard warnings in red across south dakota and eastern parts of montana. heavy snow has been swinging through minneapolis. now there are winter storm watches up across all the northeast corridor for what this storm will become down the road. this energy will swing dunn across the appalachian, become a nor'easter, and move right along the shoreline once again. this is a colder storm than last week, so big snow totals just northwest of the i-95 corridor. over a foot of snow looks likely. some of those heavier totals could make their way into new york city as well as hartford with this one. and more strong winds, not quite as intense as last weekend's storm, but any strong winds, more rough surf, more coastal flood, jeff, is not what anyone needs along the eastern seaboard right now. >> glor

what did you think of jeff sessions there?al is calling out all california politicians. really by pointing out mayor libby schaaf of oakland and california's lieutenant governor. calling out gavin newsome as well. he is drawing a clear line and distinction about how hard they will go after california. use it as an example against other states. this is clearly the administration trying to not only hold on to its base but move to an electoral message. it helps the gop and california politicians that tend to be deeper blue democratic. this is actually going to spill over to other states and spill over out into the communities. we're going to see more protests and open defiance going on, especially in california. >> mayor schaaf says she will go to jail to stand by her sanctuary city. quote, here is my message to mayor schaaf. how dare you needlesly especially danger the lives of law enforcement to promote your radical open borders agenda. it is rare that a federal official gets so personal. >> yeah. this is one of the common uses

i think this was the death nell for jeff sessions. the chairmen of the oversight committees asked him to do something and he wouldn't do it. i don't see how an attorney attorney appointed in utah can investigate the justice department. i think nothing is going to happen. i think nothing needed a special counsel more than this and i don't think we are going to get one. stuart: is this the end of jeff sessions? ed: i would say have a nice christmas. get rid of the man. stuart: everybody else he gets upset which eventually shown the door. ed: he'll see the door. part of it is the investigation going on. at the end of the day, sessions is not taking charge of that department. stuart: it never seems to end. obama people holdovers deep within the deep state investigating the obama administration. it's actually undermining trump. it never seems to end. ed: i was on the panel that picked the u.s. attorneys for reagan. we said thank you very much for your service and we'll put our own people in there. i don't have any understanding of that. wh

demarco. >> reporter: jeff, good evening to you. the nor'easter has simply grounded public transportation up and down the eastern seaboard to a virtual halt. here apt j.f.k. international airport in new york, nearly 500 flights have been canceled, and that number continues to rise. in fact, all three of new york's major airports, along with boston's logan and philadelphia international, have been experiencing cancellations and heavy delays all day. high winds being the major culprit. earlier today, at washington's regan national, heavy winds forced the pilot of this southwest airline jet to abort his landing, while at dulles airport, the control power was briefly evacuated due to those same high winds. amtrak tonight canceled all service in the northeast corridor between washington, d.c. and boston, at least until saturday. and given the prediction for heavy winds and rain to continue into the night, jeff, it will be a while before things return to normal. >> glor: these wind make for some very anxious landings. demarco, thank you.

jeff know when on the teenage imposter -- jeff nguyen on the teenage imposter. >> reporter: the sheriff's office says the teenager is using a white ford explorer and a uniform to pose as a deputy. the teen told members of the family at this home, he was investigating a domestic disturbance. >> it makes me mad that it's that easy. >> reporter: the family thought it was fishy so they lock their door. >> he didn't look like a real police officer. >> reporter: after about 30 seconds, the teen doubled back to the suv. you can see the lady's grandmother chasing down the teenager. they say what's really upsetting about the whole thing is that her intention was to help him. >> she didn't know what she was running into. she didn't know anything. she just ran. >> reporter: from this camera angle, you can see grandma talking to the teen and the second youngster inside the suv monday evening because she thought they were legit and she was worried they had a mixup. at the same time, the family called 911, which led to the arrest of the teen the next day after a sheriff's sergeant spotted the suv. duri
