chief meteorologist jeff ranieri joins us now. let's talk about how long this heat spell is going to last and how high are those temperatures going to get? >>> well, i see at this point, a two-day event for us, as we head through thursday, and friday. and the temperatures will be the hottest we've seen so far this year. as we are anticipating our first 90-degree temperatures for the inland valleys. so i wanted to start off with a look outside of our san francisco sky camera network, and there is some fog. but it's way, way out there, generally clear skies, temperatures running anywhere from 10 to close to 15 degrees above average for a few spots, the average in santa rosa is 73. we are up to 86 today. the change tomorrow is the area of hot high pressure that builds in even stronger, a big dome that is a bubble of heat that is sitting across the west once again for the next two days. so that means, as we start off tomorrow, the good news, we'll get some cooling, 50s, and by the afternoon, though, 3:00 p.m., we're looking at low 90s

jeff, we may see some change. >> yeah, big change, jessica. very happy to deliver that news for us tonight. we did have some of the hottest weather out here in concord with 100 to 104 degrees. i'm hearing from a lot of you out there that you don't have ac and it's just unbearable at this point. but again, changes on the way. so here's the deal. tomorrow heat warning in effect until 7:00 p.m. for the northeast and south bay. those inland valleys where we still will range in the mid 90s. could have a few temperatures right around 100. but the changes are starting. we're seeing the ocean breeze pick up out of the northwest at 16. and that's getting us 14 degrees cooler in santa rosa. 10 in concord. 11 in san jose. that's at this hour compared to this time yesterday. so the bottom line tomorrow morning we begin with some 60s and by the afternoon not quite as hot with low and mid 90s. we're going to go even colder and we're going to talk about some rain chances for the weekend. i'll have that for you in about 15 minutes. >> okay, jeff, thank you. >
